Blackstone oil report @ 15,500 mi.
I know 15k miles is not much but it's more than most have so i figured I'd take a look and see. Not bad.

That's Great news. I was concerned because there was a noise that was not recognizable coming from the back of the intake and I was thinking it possibly was a lifter so I was very happy to see but there was no chromium which I'm assuming is the coating on the lifter ball. It's only on warm up that you hear it for a brief. So maybe it's a lifter not staying pumped up? All these noises can make a man go crazy by not knowing

I've been around a bunch of these engines and some of them are noisier than others. My '15 is louder than my '14 was. The 416 LS3 in my off road truck is a clattering SOB, but it's got a monster cam in it. The engine's I've heard with bad cams or lifters are VERY noticeable, comes from deeper in the engine than the clattering you hear up top.

And i agree with the above too, when something is bad, its easy to tell the difference. Ive wadded pushrods up before, engine ran but sounded like a piston was sticking out the side. Certain valvetrain manufacturers will make you think their parts are made out of BB’s. All said, if somethings going, you’ll know.. |
