Blackstone oil report @ 15,500 mi.

I know 15k miles is not much but it's more than most have so i figured I'd take a look and see. Not bad.

That's Great news. I was concerned because there was a noise that was not recognizable coming from the back of the intake and I was thinking it possibly was a lifter so I was very happy to see but there was no chromium which I'm assuming is the coating on the lifter ball. It's only on warm up that you hear it for a brief. So maybe it's a lifter not staying pumped up? All these noises can make a man go crazy by not knowing

I've been around a bunch of these engines and some of them are noisier than others. My '15 is louder than my '14 was. The 416 LS3 in my off road truck is a clattering SOB, but it's got a monster cam in it. The engine's I've heard with bad cams or lifters are VERY noticeable, comes from deeper in the engine than the clattering you hear up top.

Agreed. LS engines are in general noisy. Some worse than others, some not at all, some minor tick tacks here and there. But, generally, most LS engines ive come across over the years are noisy. Early LS1’s where atrocious at startup. Mine has a small clattering on cold, worse with the 15w-50, so after 10 days and almost 20k miles, it was a good test for piece of mind. But, id do that for any engine, not because I was worried about this particular engine. I used to cut my filters every other oil change too, but no stores have cutters now days. Just old habits from the speedshop days.

And i agree with the above too, when something is bad, its easy to tell the difference. Ive wadded pushrods up before, engine ran but sounded like a piston was sticking out the side. Certain valvetrain manufacturers will make you think their parts are made out of BB’s. All said, if somethings going, you’ll know..
