AM Reception has gone to Squat...any hints?

My AM Reception had always been as good as could be expected for AM...

A few weeks back I noticed it had gotten nearly unusable. That kind of corresponds to when my truck went to the Shop for a Front End Rebuild and too much crap got put in the trunk so I could pretend to still be working.

Any hints on where I might look to troubleshoot? Is the AM Antenna separate from the XM antenna? FM Radio has gotten so worthless, I hardly ever even try it.

Thanks,

-KP

I think I read somewhere on here it’s in the rear window defroster. Check that and do a search here.

Rush is on AM, so...

I thought the Convertible Antenna was in the Spoiler?

Maybe the stupid wires that 'chafe' on the Rubber Seal has finally wore through? Is it in that bundle? That'd suck...

What's the cure for the chafing wire, anyway?

Thanks,

-KP

Crap:

https://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=101281

Could the water have damaged the cable?

"The dealer said it was a bad antenna cable and 8 weeks later when it arrived it was of course the wrong one. You see the tech was right the cable is bad but didnt know there are three connector points and only ordered the cable from the radio to the left kick. Wrong, the connection under the headliner at the antenna amplifier is where it is bad at. You see while waiting on the part i checked it out myself and found this to be the bad connection. While I had the car apart I realized the antenna cable is inside the left floor wire, WOW!! "

The 2014 owner’s manual specifically states the AM/FM antenna is in the spoiler in convertibles. #2 in the drawing lists this part as the spoiler module. Based on the comment about loading up the trunk, this is the place to start to look for cable issues.

I have no specific reason to believe the stuff in the trunk did anything.

But, the large bundle of wires that is known to chafe on the rubber seal is sure doing that on mine.

I suppose the Antenna wires are in that bundle? There's also a small wire on the other side. It's not damaging the seal.

I haven't yet taken the time to see if the large bundle of wires is damaged. I'll try to remember to do that in the morning. Rush doesn't come on 'til 11AM CST, so I've got a little time...

Thanks,

-KP
