Yes it stops once oil pressure builds, totally normal. If it didnt stop and it tapped constantly then theres and immediate issue.

Yup. There was a TSB on this.

Based on my experience and other accounts in this forum, if it's happening now, it was probably happening from day 1.

I got mine replaced under warranty with redesigned lifters. Your warranty has expired. Expect to pay $2,000.

I have never heard of this problem causing a catastrophic failure, but it was very irritating and even embarrassing.

TSB "Technical Service Bulletin"
#10-06-01-007C: Active Fuel Management (AFM) Engine, Valve Lifter Tick Noise at Start Up When Engine Has Been Off for 2 Hours or More (Evaluate Noise and/or Replace Valve Lifters) - (Feb 9, 2011)

Considering the mileage you have on your vehicle, hence why i say youll be fine as it is not a "new" issue. Considering the heads have to be pulled, might want to consider your goals with your car and if you want to venture into performance upgrades price point can be a little steep if your not doing your own work.

This ^^^.
Change it now and change it often. My early build '10 L99 has has had
13 oil changes in 8 years and 48,000 miles. Even after sitting for weeks
at a time I've never heard a sound from the factory lifters.

Fresh oil change and make sure you aren't filling the oil over the full line. Add 7 quarts and see how it sounds/check the level. If it's not within the three dots/holes on the dipstick add a little more. I try and shoot for between the bottom dot and the middle dot as it keeps my lifters a little quieter.

I've heard this before is there a good reason why that seems to make a difference? I would like to understand why if you know the answer.

You can do a conversion to LS3 lifters. But you will need to replace some other parts and do a tune.

You can keep VVT; it's a completely separate function.

But, let me assure you all: the new design AFM lifters work just fine. And in my late build 2010, one downshift, in any gear in manual mode, is all it takes to disable AFM.

Based on your questions, I think you should let an experienced mechanic do this job.

Or, you could get the shop manual and tackle the job yourself, if you are patient and have another car to drive in the meantime.

I had this job done by the most senior mechanic at my dealership and it took him two full days. Had it not been covered by warranty, it would have cost me $2,500, money well spent IMO.

I have been doing routine maintenance and minor repairs for years, yet I would never consider undertaking this job. Yet people who routinely tear down engines, and have the skills, the tools, and a clean, warm, and dry workspace would not be intimidated.

I agree, if you're asking those sort of questions you might not have enough experience.
The L99\LS3 are fairly simple to work on for a modern V8, however they are also easily f****d up if you don't know what you're doing.
