Drag race epic fail LOL

So I went to Norwalk Raceway last night for the first time and ran this car down. Smoked the tires half way down the track, let off and went through the eyes at 70 mph. Had to wait 5 hours to make one pass a blew the tires off. There had to be some oil on that track for me to be bouncing off the rev limiter in second and third gear. Totally sucked, what a crap night. Not sure I will be back out to a drag strip anytime soon, that wait time to run is so long its just ridiculous, takes any fun out of it. Plus the drive there is an hour away.

Pulled out of the shit hole and nailed the car in 1st gear on a public street and it took off like a rocket LOL. Better traction on asphalt than a ****ing drag strip, go figure.

Sounds like a disappointing day to say the least. Must have been some swearing and confusion.. at least you kept the car straight and didn't wipe out though

Ya, I must have rolled through some shit on the track. This car never spins the tires in second and third gear but last night it did.

Was that your first time out to the track with your current setup?

That kinda sounds like my first time out to the track earlier this year. I got 2 runs in and I was almost a whole second off my imagined ET. It was horrible and very humbling.

Now I have almost 40 passes on the drag strip under my belt and I feel like I'm finally getting used to launching the car. I'm close to my target ET now, but still not there.

It sounds like you hit something wet because no way you should be spinning that far down the track, even if you are running street tires, which I don't think you said one way or the other.

Keep after it because it's a lot of fun and very satisfying when things start to come together.

Ya, a stick car is a lot more work to quarter mile. An automatic would be so much easier.

No, MT Street R 315/35/17, it spun in 2nd and 3rd gear. There was something on the track.

Yeah days like that unfortunately do happen from time to time. Been there and done that many many times with my own cars and when helping others out for the day or weekend.
