91 Octane?

Curious to know if anyone else regularly puts 91 octane in their car and if they experience any hesitation/stumbling/roughness ? M6 ?

My HP-Tuners data logger has shown that quite a bit of timing retard in various rpm ranges. These same areas are where I feel the car is hesitating/stumbling/bogging/farting.

I disconnected the negative battery cable for a few hours and reconnected and discovered my car was suddenly a rocket ship and no hesitation problems. Then after some WOTs and ECU-learning, they came back.

This is with a Gen5 ZL1 ? My Gen5 ZL1 had to be tuned to run on 91, there was audible knocking at WOT until I tuned it. GM said "thats how these cars are".

Hope yours does better.

Everyone in CA regularly putting in 91 right? Unless you're tuned for E85 or spend $10/gallon for 100. My car doesnt stumble or hesitate and I didnt notice any difference or improved response the few times I added 5-6 gallons of VP 100. Car can perfectly at track on all 91. That being said, it would be nice to have 93 as an option.

My assumption is that the only people putting 91 in their car are those of us in California or other unfortunately similar states.

My car is 100% stock. No E85.

Out of curiosity, what brand of gas do you use? Random, or do you always use the same?

Thanks

I just put 91 in since I'm in CA. It's my 2nd tank. Who knows if the dealer used 91 or not.
My car doesn't hesitate on 91 at all. Goes like a raped ape.

Mine seems to run well on CA 91 octane. I'm not datalogging anything.

In my experience with other cars, most stumbling/roughness issues are ignition issues - could even be a bad ground somewhere.

In montana - only 91 available, i think it also depends on altitude (3000 ft ASL here) i use exon senergy (top tier fule) - https://www.toptiergas.com

I don,t feel anything strange, however no place here to really open her up - I thought about an octaine booster, however it is not recomended from GM and im not sure if they are leaded product or not

Any known reason why some states have no 93?

I’m in Cali and I’ve been using Race Gas race fuel concentrate since the very 1st tank. It gives me peace of mind from detonation and gives me all 650 / 650. It takes 91 to 95.

Here in TX we have 93 at every pump. If we only had 91 I would add 4oz of Boostane to every tank. Would bring 91 up to 94. One can would last 8 fill ups.
