Turbo oil trouble???

I have the turbonetics T76 kit with -8an return line and a -3an oil feed line. The car is leaving a light blue haze when it gets into boost (6psi) but does not smoke at idle.
Turbonetics does not recommend an oil restrictor, but every where I read people with the hellion TT kits which is also turbonetics turbos (64mm I believe) are using a .40 restrictor to help with the oiling back pressure problem.

Could anyone help clarify what I need to do?
Any info is appreciated.

sounds like oil is getting past the bushings or bearings in the turbo. this use to be one of my most common nightmares back in the day when I had my Buick Grand Nationals.

thus one of the MAIN reasons why I do and will always stay away from any turbo setup. that crap can drive someone insane.

Check for leaks around the turbo. Check your charge pipe for oil. You do not need a restrictor on that turbo. If you find nothing wrong than it could be some blow by on the motor...

Most journal bearing turbos will be fine w/out an oil restrictor....but ceramic ball bearing units require a restrictor. The other issue may be if it is a scavenge pump oil return the piping/pump/etc. may need to be altered.

It says on their site that this turbo has the ceramic ball bearings??

So I just finished pulling the charge pipe off the car and there is oil in the charge pipe.. There was barely a trace on the TB side but when I pulled it loose from the intercooler the bottom of the pipe had some oil present.

If it's a ball bearing turbo than you prob need a restrictor unless it's built into the unit. Call turbonetics and see what they say. If they say you don't need it because it has one then see if they want you to send the turbo in looks like it's blowing past the seal.

I have about come to this, a 1/8in hole with 50+psi oil pressure is alot of oil inside that little area. I have several buddies with 106mm turbos running alot smaller oil feed orifices without issues. I just dont understand why turbonetics doesnt use a restrictor? this is my first turbo setup and its about to be my last

It may be built into the oil feed on the turbo you need to call them and ask. There are quite a few guys here running that kit without restrictors and no problems. If they say it doesn't have a restrictor at all then yes. A bb turbo doesn't need anymore than 45 psi at the highest point.

What size of restrictors did he use?
