STARTING ISSUE NEED HELP

ENGINE PARTS
LS3 Motor stock bottom
ProCharger D1SC stage-2
Kooks 1-7/8 headers No cats
ID850 injectors
ZR1 3bar map sensor
Zl1 fuel pump
KB BAP
VMAX throttle body
160*F Thermostat
Comp Custom Cam 227/239 .614/.624 on a 115+3 LS
Snow stage-3 Meth kit

Hi I need some expert advise. I have had a starting issue since I installed my cam back in September. My car started perfect prier to the cam. I am reaching out to see if anyone has had a similar problem, and has found a solution to it. The only things that were added during cam install were the ID850 injectors and there data, Cam, and all the necessary parts for the cam install plus the tune.
The car starts fine in the morning with only a small hiccup after sitting all night. Once the car starts you can turn it off and on without any issue. It also drives amazing but, after you drive the car for a little while and turn it off. If you let it sit for 30 to 45 minutes, it has a hard time starting. It just cranks over and acts like it has no fuel, see below video and turn up the volume.

I have changed injectors, fuel pump and also removed the KB BAP, Meth kit. Had the Battery checked and checked wiring and all grounds for any short with no luck. My tuner has gone over the tune several times with no luck, we are out of ideas if anyone can help?

+1. My car does the exact same, but doesn't crank as long( maybe 1-4 cranks more than normal). I have the turbonetics kit with no cam.

Did you install a fuel pressure gage at the fuel rail and verify that you actually have proper fuel pressure while it is doing the longer than normal cranking?

What was used to flash the tune? If it was HP Tuners try disconnecting the 3 plugs from the PCM and reconnecting. If that doesn't help, I would be looking at the tune.

Had the same problem on my pontiac after cats broke. AFR was off just enough to make it do that. Gotta be the tune.

My tuner said he did and it was good.

My AFR is about 14.6 at idle and 11.4 on the top end

I have a 2010 Camaro that has been doing this since day 1. I need to spend a day at the dealer with the Service Manager to show him what is happening. I now have a tune and it still does it.

I'm going to subscribe to see if you guys have any further info on this. I have gotten into the habit of doing this...After it sits for a while (30 - 40 minutes) I turn the key on for a couple seconds, turn it off, then start the engine. If I don't do this, it cranks without starting, then starts on the second attempt.

Manny, at least it starts. Remember my issue.....at first start up in the morning it took up to 3 minutes to get fuel pressure to the regulator. I am running return style. No issues now, after beating on the car for numerous 12psi boost runs. it must have flushed the crap out of the regulator.

Your issue sounds like a tune issue. You still have the FPCM?. I remember in my research i learned that in the tune with the OE FPCM you can set the time in seconds for the pump to prime. I think normally its 2 sec but can also be set to 10 seconds. I just guessing here.....could be way off but it does seem to be tune related.

Remember i had one of the best LS tuners in the country....it turns out my whole ordeal with the P0606 code and reduced power mode was a change in the tune with the gas pedal position to throttle relationship. DSteck and Andy at Squash figured it out.

You might send your tune to Dave Steck at D S X tuning.com. This man is a genious. he will let you know. He is banned here on C5 which is a real shame!!!!!!!!

Good luck, but at least your car starts!

Its in the tune. Had a turbo car last week that was doing the same thing. Have your tuner check cranking airflow, cranking VE, and cranking spark. Give him a few days with it. I'm sure he will get it right.

Thanks Jim, I need to look into that. We thought it was an injector first so we changed them with no luck. Then we thought it was the ZL-1 fuel pump, so I installed the stock fuel pump back and drove it around for two weeks with the same result, thank god I made an access door. Disconnected the BAP & the Meth still no luck. I think something got corrupted when we down loaded the data for the ID-850.
