best cam for an L99?
What is the best one to go with? and do i need any supporting mods? can you still supercharge the car after the cam is done? i usually see guys either doing one or the other not both.

pm Rhino for a VVT cam grind that works well with a blower.

I know plenty of people that have done a cam and blower setup. Just make sure your builder knows that your goal is to have both and they will spec out a cam to match the blower. There are plenty of cams that will fit the job.
The ones suggested above are a good start but you might also want to expand your search to JRE and Livernois. Just to get a good idea of the numerous options you have.

It depends on what you want out of the car. If your currently N/A and want a cam now and a supercharger later, if your already supercharged, or if you just want to stay N/A. Are you an auto or manual, do you want a smooth idle or rough, how important is drivability to you? You should at least have long tubes and a good cai. You can supercharge after the cam but that will predicate what cam you go with. My 10 SS has over 70k with both, its my daily driver. PM me if your looking for something specific, we have several cam packages. |

it's a money thing when it comes to both...that's the pill I'm trying to swallow. Honestly, I'd do the blower first. Converter and cam and blower type will be a trifecta for kill. All three have to work with each other.

Camshaft
Check out the MTI Racing Stage 1 Camshaft. This cam is designed to work with the stock converter and will work perfectly with a supercharger.

Correct me if I am wrong but I don't think there is a cam out there that will net 475-500whp with an L99, even after doing a LS3 conversion, that will still be blower friendly.

We have a specific list of parts needed to make these numbers after testing different combinations over the years. Here is one example: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=308123 Last edited by BLACK10; 09-10-2013 at 11:40 PM. |
