1LE Suspension Track Pack Upgraqde on V6

Ok,

So I'm thinking of getting this put on my V6.

These system included:
Part Number: 22812942 Detail: Front Stab Bar Asm (Bar, links, bushing, clamp, nut) QTY: 1
Part Number: 22786260 Detail: Rear Stab Bar Asm (Bar, Bushing, Clamp, Bolt) QTY: 1
Part Number: 2761221 Detail: Rear Stab Bar Link QTY: 1
Part Number: 22812982 Detail: Front Strut Asm, LH (Strut, Spring, Mount) QTY: 1
Part Number: 22812983 Detail: Front Strut Asm, RH (Strut, Spring, Mount) QTY: 2
Part Number: 22981391 Detail: Rear Shock QTY: 4
Part Number: 22922445 Detail: Rear Shock Mount, LH QTY: 4
Part Number: 22922446 Detail: Rear Shock Mount, RH QTY: 4
Part Number: 22845487 Detail: Rear Toe Link QTY: 4
Part Number: 20941932 Detail: Rear Cradle Bushing, Front QTY: 4
Part Number: 20941933 Detail: Rear Cradle Bushing, Rear QTY: 4
Part Number: 23102312 Detail: Installation Instructions QTY: 4

My question is that GM has to difference part number for the V8 and V6 upgrade. Can anyone tell me the difference between the two. I have a local C5 member who wants to sell me his OEM 1LE parts but I'm not sure what additional V6 parts I'd need?

I figure I'd need a alignment once I install this. What about the ECM being changed. If you have the dealer do this do they update the ECM to allow for the changed suspension?

If I had to guess the difference is the rear end components. I'm pretty sure the rear end on the V6 and V8 are different. If I'm correct, his parts (1LE) would be different than what you need.

BTW: You have to drop the rear end to install this kit.

Who are you going to have install the parts? If you get a GM performance shop to do it you'll retain warranty if you buy the kit from a dealer.

Personally, I think you would get better bang-for-your-buck from aftermarket parts. Get set up with a set of BMR Sway Bars, Koni Shocks (currently 25% off), Trailing Arms, Toe Rods, and a few assorted bushings and you'll find out quickly that it will outperform the GM kit, at very close to the same cost. If you're wanting to try to keep your factory warranty on the suspension, that would be the only reason I can see to go with the 1LE package.

At least in 2010 models. if you have a manual v6 rear end is same as v8 automatic rear end is different.

Oh, and BTW, there are no changes needed to the ECM on your car for suspension upgrades.

This. A customer of ours just won his CamaroCross class by more than 1/2 a second at Camaro5Fest on a RideTech/BMR package we spec'd out for him.

Anybody here have a dealer install this 1LE kit on their car?

I'm inherently suspicious on them doing it right.

I'm also suspicious of having a dealer install as well. However, I suppose for warranty to hold and not be voided, the track pack would have to be installed by a dealer. I'm really looking at the 1LE track pack simply because it's a pretty good handling kit for a really good price with warranty to back it. hmm

For dealerships, there are written step-by-step procedures for installing GMPP's.

They do not have any effect on your warranty unless specifically specified otherwise, like the COPO 427 drag engines.

Note that GM Performance Parts are designed by engineers and extensively tested to provide balanced performance.

It's like cams. GM might spend $500,000 developing a grind. And Competition Cams will either copy it, or guess at it, or just throw big lumps on it.

Most street car drivers will be happier overall with the GM Hot Cam than aftermarket choices.

The same care that went into developing the V6 1LE kit is no different than what they did to develop the V8 1LE.

I learned this when building my second Small Block Chevy 350ci. First I built it per Part Of The Weak advertising. It blew up.

Second build was all GM parts (circa 1979), 2.02 factory heads, Duntov 30-30 grind, GM pushrods, rockers, crank, etc.

That second engine lasted, and ran great on both driving to work, and clicking off ET's at the strip.

Nothing has changed. GM doesn't make the wickest parts, they make a system that runs hard and reliably.

No, I don't work for GM. Yes, I buy a LOT of aftermarket parts. But given the choice, I'll run GM shit. They do their homework. Top Rung stuff.

Certain Chevrolet dealerships are certified as performance shops. They supposedly have "extra" training. I toured the facility of one in the east San Francisco bay. It definitely looked more like a speed shop than a dealership service bay.

I bought the 1LE upgrade parts and installed it myself before it became the performance package. The difference is the springs. If you buy the parts individually like i did you also have to buy the springs. The V6 kit comes with the front struts with springs, mount etc. already assembled. The V8 kit only includes the bare front struts.

I'd have to agree with this as well. I have a forged steel crank from GM in my 305 Sprint Car engine that is built to racing spec and it has cranked 5-7k rpm all day for the past two years at the track.
