You don't see those Camaros that clean. They are usually beat up from racing. Just keep in mind to buy all AC Delco and Delphi parts for repairs and she'll last another 20 years. Nice find.

Thanks, I hope it doesn't need any Delco or Delphi repair parts any time soon but will certainly only use the right stuff for it.

Turns out the manifold wasn't cracked, just a couple bolts had came loose. Had them tightened up and it's running great. No more exhaust leaks. Has the early "2OTL" exhaust that sounds exceptional.

Would have loved to find out about the honed myth...but glad it was simple. You are a lucky dog with that little and I think it's great your keeping her pure.

Yeah, gotta admit I was curious too... But I'm pretty certain none of these have any special exhaust manifolds. The original sales literature mentioned it so the myth was perpetuated, but I have yet to ever see or hear of anyone who actually has anything but stock "as-cast" versions on their car. It's a good story though... Kinda like the claims GM shipped cross-ram intakes and headers in the trunks of 69 Z/28s.

Very cool, looks like it was taken care of for the most part. Never thought 4th gens would be a rare find but here we are

Well, consider the fact that less than 2500 Camaro SS's were built in 1996 (the lowest SS production of ANY year Camaro,1967-present) and then consider they are 20 years old now...with many of them wrecked, rotted, modded, or otherwise wiped off the planet. While there are still lots of 4th gens out there, the nice ones are getting fewer by the day and I'd say a first year SLP converted Camaro that was one of 55 in 1996 should qualify as rare today.

Thanks man... I actually showed it for the first time last weekend and ended up winning 1st place in the stock Camaro class! Granted it was just a local show, but I was still pretty pleased.

Very cool! I had a 93 Z28. Loved that car. I was 19 and on my way into the Marine Corps when I bought it. I put 126k miles on that car before selling it. Wish I would have kept it. It was a rock solid car.
