I want the best width for launching.

Again, and I cant stress this enough. The tire design, sidewall flex, and compound has more to do with traction than the width. If you want to see something interested take a look at the 10.5 tire class drag cars...They have way more power than our cars stock, are way faster and are restricted to a slick 10.5" wide . If you really want to launch the car, buy a drag radial and a spare set of wheel in as close to the stock size you can and still get the traction you need.

To answer your questions I grabbed a random chart from the web. Wheel diameter on the chart is not import, what is important is tire width and tread and wheel width. A 315 is designed for a 10.5" to 12.5" wheel. Will it "balloon" and on an 11" wheel...probably.

Something else you need to consider is when you change the OD of the tire you are effectively changing the gearing of the car. A smaller OD tire, like when Motortrend put the Z/28 tire on the 1LE is similar to putting a 4.11 gear in the rearend of a 1LE. The car should be quicker (I will skip the part about tire/wheel weight, but that plays in to the equation as well) If you put a larger OD tire (taller) than stock you are doing the same as numerically lowering your gear ratio. Your 1LE 3.91 rear ratio may feel more like a 1LE (on stock tires) with a 3.7x car.

The taller and heavier the tire the more it has a negative effect on acceleration.

Speedo will be off slightly. Nothing to worry about. I know mine's slightly off with 315's and drive accordingly

You have a 1LE though? If we’re talking 1LE’s here then we gotta put 315s on the front too otherwise it’s just destroying the car and might as well just have an SS cuz all that carefully engineered steering performance depends on boxed wheels/tires.

I can get a brand new pair of 315/30/20s pilot sport 4S’s too rn for $200 so I’d just have to get 2 more for the front and I’ve wanted to do it for a long time but never planned on going to 315 was gonna do maybe 295 or 305 but these just came along rn when I really can’t afford to spend $2200 plus on a set of 4 matching pilot sport 4s fires so I’m trying to figure out if anyone has done it and how they fix everywhere and if steering was a problem with them being that wide in the front. I know for a fact going narrow in the front will kill the stability and steering advantages the 1LE has over all the other 5th gen’s but I assume so will going too wide and making too much turning resistance but idk really.

I have 315/35/20 11"rears - 275/40/30 10"fronts. That setup is stock height and no speedo issues.

I and a number of others run 305 all the way around. IIRC, there was thread by a guy who ran 315s, but 305 is the limit for the 10 inch front wheels on the 1LE. I've looked at a lot of tires over the years and I have always seen 10-inch minimum wheel spec for 305/30s and it goes to 10.5 or 11 when you move to a 315. I'm sure you can get a 315 on a 10-inch wheel, but it will likely handle worse than the 305 If it was me, I would run the 315s in the rear and 305s up front. It will likely slightly increase understeer a touch but running 315s up front really requires a wider wheel and I'm not sure they won't rub without a spacer.

Also, I have heard even 305 can be too wide doing autocross, but I have never run autocross. They work well on road courses.

When I first got my 1LE, the previous owner had put on 295 Michelin PS4Ss on all four corners.
They were at the end of their life, but I did one track day on them and they held up for about half a day before they started to fall off hard. The car felt nicely balanced before the tires gave up.

When I went to replace them, I wanted that classic muscle car look of big fat rear tires, so I got some Nitto Invos at 295 front and 325 rear.
Because of the 325s on the rear, the car understeered a lot more and the rear end was more unpredictable. The price I paid to have the look I wanted....
The tires were "OK" on the track. They eventually got too many heat cycles and became like hokey pucks. Would not recommend them for heavy track use.

I now am running Yokohama Advan Apexs at 295 front and 305 rear.
The car feels much more balanced again on track with just a hint of understeer.
The grip is on par with the PS4Ss I had earlier. Very happy with this set up.

Been wanting to go 305 square for a while now but heard mixed input on if they fronts would rub or not.

I personally would try to keep close to a square set up for track work.
If you just want the look, I know the 11" rear 1LE rim can handle a 325 rear tire.
However, like I mentioned, it will throw off the handling balance of the car.
