suppercharger replacement on hold.

Got a phone call from my technician at dealership.
He told me they did not send my supercharger because of the flutter.
I told him I know about this issue on standards, but I understand.
He told me they might be putting a different coupler until they get this resolved.
News to me.
Anyone else run into this.

Doesn't make a whole lot of sense considering AFAIK, the entire supercharger is treated as a replacement unit as it's made by Eaton.
Unless something has changed and Eaton will allow just the coupler be changed independently?

Perhaps they'll try using some sort of stiff but compliant material to make the coupler out of instead of solid metal in an effort to absorb some of the vibrations the spring was designed to deal with.

I know this sounds crazy.
They ordered one about 2-3 weeks ago and instead he said he got a letter stating the coupler was causing fluttering.
I'm waiting for an answer. But my tech told me they will pay for a coupler and install if I want.
I want to get some answers and see if Chevy is doing something new because of this issue.
Will let everyone know what I find out.

Thanks. I would like to know before I call the dealer about mine.

From TSB....

Note: To improve reliability of the supercharger one of the changes made was to go to a solid coupler between the geartrain and the drive pulley. A tradeoff to this improvement is that manual transmission vehicles may experience a flutter or rattle at low RPM (800-900) and high load (second or third gear). This flutter only lasts a moment and is a normal characteristic of this design.

I have had my supercharger replaced and my car is a manual. I do not hear any new noises luckily but people have complained of the flutter from the solid coupler, hopefully I never experience it. Wanted to subscribe to this thread though to see if they end up changing the current solid coupler fix with something else because of this flutter some are having.
Please keep us posted with your fix results.

As far as I know, ALL 2012's and 2013's (at least) are included.

They replaced it in my 2013 ZL1 Vert (built early Aug), no questions.

I'm very interested in whatever information you wind up getting.

AIUI the changeover occurred in November of '13, or maybe a little before - the PIP describes the problem being possible in 2014 MY cars and "supercharger replacements in 11/13 or later".
