I used NLS on 2 of the long straights at COTA. The 3-4 shift works great! Using it for the 2-3 shift was not very good, seemed to what a slower normal shift for 2-3 or I'm just not that good at it yet.

What is not represented in the table for NLS is the 2014 and 2015 Z/28 - LS7 - is the NLS feature available on the Z/28 and if so at what RPM is it enabled?

The 5th gen ZL1 had it (see link below), which came out earlier, so I'd assume they would have a similar feature on the top dog Z28. Al mentions the 5th gen has it too, but doesn't specify which models (unless all the manuals have it on the 5th gen too?)

Here is a question for this thread:

Is it possible for the no-lift shift to be out of adjustment? I have noticed that my 4th to 5th shift works properly, no over rev, but my 3rd to 4th, does not, the revs climb like a non-no-shift car would and I have to lift to keep from hitting the rev limiter. Could one upshift be out of adjustment? Is this a computer problem or is there a mechanical sensor that could be out of adjustment?

This is not something I do on the street as the 3rd to 4th shift is above 90 MPH. Is this something that could be found in the computer memory of the ECU if I take it in for warranty? I don't think my dealer is going to test this on the street.

And to answer the question "Am I sure I have the gas pedal floored?" the answer is yes. I have deliberately made sure it wasn't just me lifting slightly. I have done that out of habit but when I tested to make sure it wasn't me, I am sure that the pedal was flat when I went 3rd to 4th. I have the PDR read out to prove no lift. Yes, I was over 5,000 RPM also, around 6,000 were the shift points.

Thank you for any replies.

Can anybody confirm that the "target speed" for the 1LE is only 5.000rpm ??
would not make sense fpr me.

I am afraid that there is a tippo, and it is equally to the SS at 6.400 rpm

I don't think that's a typo on the SS 1LE target speed. In the original question, I had posted some videos (of an SS and SS 1LE) and Al's response matches the videos.

You're saying that the NLS feature works as Al described on the 1-2, 2-3, 3-4 shift, but behaves differently only on the 4-5 shift? That's interesting. Is it repeatable? On the 4-5 shift, does engine speed get held at 6400rpm, like on the non-1LE SS?

I've only tested the non-1LE SS feature up to 4th gear and it works exactly like Al described.

vtirocz,

I only use this on the track (road course) and I have not used no lift upshifts except for 3rd to 4th and 4th to 5th. I have made a mistake and lifted slightly every once in a while, over 45 years of shifting w/o electronics to blame, and I understand why it would not work under those circumstances.

I have been on the track and purposely made sure that I had the throttle floored all the way; 4th to 5th, no problem, 3rd to 4th, nope. I just went to the old-fashioned way of shifting, a slight lift to prevent climbing revs, when going 3rd to 4th.

I was wondering if there is some sort of mechanical sensor that could be out of adjustment or if this is all electronic in determining where the shifter is going. I am going to put the car in the dealer for another reason and ask them to look at it in a few weeks but I wondered if they could just plug into the ECU and see if there was a problem. Is this data recorded and available? I would assume it is in there but accessing it might not be as easy as asking for a certain coded check.

Can you turn of NLS

Is there any way to disable this feature ? I am old school and prefer the old way. Not a quarter mile guy just spirited driving and it keeps holding the rpm when I get on it a little HATE IT.

There is absolutely no need to disable it. It's not a requirement to shift this way, just an option. Just shift like you always do. Not many people even know it exists and you have to be very deliberate to use it.

IME most all modern engines do this at times and to a degree. It's called rev hang afaik... it's really bad on some cars.

I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with the NLS feature, it's for emissions.

Actually no you dont have to be deliberate to activate it just get on it and go above the set rpm and its on. Sorry should be an option to disable it. Its annoying when you dont want to use it and just have some spirited driving. Thanks anyhow I just figured I would ask.
