The reason I thought they would do something about the hole in the fob is this part of her post.

"The fobs will be reworked and the new keys programmed."

Thank you Becky! Finally some REAL information. I just want it done and over with at this point. Will call dealer in a couple weeks.

Thanks again!

I think when she says that she means it will be programed. I'm "assuming" the chip is in the FOB.

It says the fobs will be reworked AND the keys will be programmed, in my understanding reworking is not the same as reprogramming.

This is nothing but a silly game for big companies like GM....

Absolute not necessary move, and it is absurd to call it safety recall... They can count me out... If they really wanted to make a change... fine, but make something better... do not give me broken up parts or scale down product.

So I'm keeping mine and form the sound of it so will 90% of Camaro owners....

It's not mandatory guys. You sign something releasing you from liability every time you go in for warranty work and you're good to go. That's all.

Lol. Yeah because GM has allocated resources to spend time tracking down your insurance company and squeal on you. Tell me you were joking.

The re-call is for an entirely different reason....

....It just dawned on them that "switch-blades" are illegal in the U.S. and they have been selling an item that would get a kid kicked out of school for possessing....As the keys get older, they will become sharper and used as shanks...That's the real danger...lol..

I would imagine you will get the standard GM safety recall notice, along with a waiver form you can sign and return to GM (or your local dealership) saying you elect not to have the work done... at your own risk.
