1997 Camaro,no spark
A friend of mine came down to see me,came down driving his 1997 Camaro. Then when he went to leave, won't start and did the simple checks.Have fuel pressure and the fuel pump is good, hooked up the fuel pressure gauge and did the test light check.I pulled the coil wire off the coil,is the LT1 engine and no spark.Called my step dad since he works at a GM dealership as a mechanic, said it maybe the distributor.Said the distributor is a common failure part on these LT1s.No codes in the computer.

the optispark tends to go bad on those. MSD makes a replacement.

Modulator in the base of the distributer. Some times you can change this in the car. This has happened to me with two third gens. One time I was pumping gas and went to leave and no go.

It was the distributor, wore right out.Luckily he had a brand new MSD distributor for it on the shelf he ordered 4 weeks ago.Installed it and runs like a champ now.My step dad was right and took over a 12 pack of Busch Light to say thank you for his help.
