I take my car to get inspected and ow car is crashed.
Long story short. I went to get my 15 Z/28 inspected for my registration. Car passes inspection as it should. My name is called so I can pay the fee. As I'm paying I see my car crashed into the sidewalk.
The emergency brake cable snapped when they parked the car to return it to me. I never had any issues with emergency brake. Now inspection site says it's not their fault. They say it's a freak accident. Police report filed and insurance claim to follow. Thoughts?

Can anyone fix the upside down pictures. I'm not sure why that happens.

sounds fishy. Everyone knows to put a manual car in gear so it wouldn't roll if the emergency brake don't hold.

Your car's parking brake cable snapped, right? Time to call your insurance.

Yes. But how? I've never had an issue with the e brake. This happened on their watch. What did they do on the test drive?

It's a weird thing with the pictures, but an easy fix. All you have to do is open the picture up then rotate it 90 degrees continually until it rotates back to normal, then save it. You don't have to save it as a different file, just hit save. That's it.....it will load normally after that when you attach the image.

Flip open your manual (book) and show them where it says to put car in 1st or R with parking brake. Of course they will say not their fault, but this isn't rocket science here. A shop should know better, if not, they shouldn't be working around Manual cars in the first place. Seems like an easy win to me?

Sorry to hear (and see) this. I do know of a local guy who told me his e brake cable broke on his Z/28.
Re: the shop paying for damages....I say they should pay for it. They were servicing your car and if something happens during that process then they should be on the hook, IMO. Your insurance company can/should fight on your behalf.

Dang! Sorry that happened. Your insurance company should be in contact with their insurance company. They performed the work, parked the car and had the keys. It was not wrecked when you gave it to them for the "inspection".

Wow what a bummer, but they should be paying for it for sure. Even if it was a freak accident - when they took the keys for inspection they took the risk until they returned it. I would simply hand off to your insurance company and let them do what they do and focus on getting your car fixed up and back on the road.
Sorry to see that and we all feel your pain and frustration! |
