Need to autodim sideview mirrors....

I want to be able to setup the sideview mirrors to autodim, is there anyway to do that?

I figured one option was to find sideview mirrors from 2LT/2SS cars and install them on, will that work? Can I even order those from gmpartsdirect or a dealer?

Also do both sideview mirrors auto dim on the 2LT/2SS models?

I would think you could swap them out. Only the drivers side dims. You can probably order them but there might be a wait. Lots of things are on back order.

I have a 2SS and only the rear view and driver's side dims. The passenger's does not dim, but realistically shouldn't get in the way of your driving and seeing the traffic behind you. The big thing is that you HAVE it on the 2LT and 2SS. I really enjoy that feature at night. It makes it very easy to drive and NOT have to adjust the flap under the rear view to dim it or adjust my driver's side mirror or look away when bright lights are in the mirrors.

Couple of things. The dimming is controlled by the sensor in the rear view mirror. The side mirror on it's own is useless. You may not have the necessary wire harness in place anyway.

Hmmm. I have a 1LT, and I replaced my mirror with the auto-dimming one from gmpartsdirect.com. It was plug & play and worked just fine. I wonder if the side mirror would be plug and play as well.

Anyone wanna buy me one so we can find out? :p

Sorry to respond a week later.... the auto-dimming rearview mirror I bought was part # 13503048 from gmpartsdirect.com

Again, just to be 100% clear, that was the interior rear view mirror, not the side mirrors...

Yeah.... the center of the mirror (about 1/2 inch from edge) actually turns a blue-ish color. Sometimes, you can actually see it change. It works better than my '06 Chrysler Auto dim's.

Another cool option I missed out on. I was wondering whhy my 2007 Z71 has a autodim rear view and not my Camaro. Looks like I will be adding this to a list of wanted upgrades :-)
