Do we have confirmation of a 427 in a Camaro? If we do, I agree it would be very limited production. If it is a LS7, I would bet it is an upgraded handling SS replacement that would be mass production like the SS. That is all I am saying.

Again, if it is a 427, all bets are off. And I would be standing in line for it.

this is as it should be in my opinion. the Z/28 used very limited in relation to the SS. In 67 they did not build many at all. in 69 they build quite a few.

when they killed the SS is 1973 then they started mass producting the Z28.

the Z28 then became basically a generic mass produced marginally perfroming car.

The lure goes beyond the name. Because of EPA emissions standards getting a 427 with a lumpy cam passed is currently not possible with the technology avilable. The idle is too dirty. That is why you see so many FI performance engines. There may be a direct injection big cam NS 427 down the road, maybe. If you want a 427 N/A from the factory the Z/28 is most likely the last of the breed.

Limited Availability + The Last of the Lumpy Cam Big Blocks + Z/28 name = Premium Price and Low Volume

I have heard that there will be a DI 7.0

Not in 2014. Not that soon...the Gen V engine architecture hasn't even made it into a car, yet, in "basic" 6.2L form...

Still...a low-number of expensive LS7-powered factory 5th-gens rolling around...if any car were to have value down the road, my bets are it's that one!

I figure that a NA LS7 would be rated HP wise inbetween the LS3 and the ZL1's SC LSA making it a perfect match with the 1LE option to make a Z/28 option for the 2014.

I don't see what the point of the LS7 would be here. It costs more to make and makes less power.

Sounds great. It will be interesting to see what GM does.

To be honest, two years ago I would've been excited over the prospect of an ls7 camaro. Fast forward to today, and I'm less optimistic about another two-ton, 500 hp camaro model when we still do not have a good answer to ford's forward thrust in the mustang.

I'd much rather see chevy tighten up the competition a bit with its current camaro models.
