It's a safety recall and the dealer is required by law to do it.

Any dealer who lets you sign a "waiver" is breaking the law.

Not to mention exposing himself to a lawsuit if you or one of his staff have an accident in the car.

Actually I mis spoke I looked at some on amazon but going back thru my emails this is the one I got from eBay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/5-Button-Ch...-/162722435001
Once I had the key cut all I had to do was use my other key to program the new one. There’s several write ups on here on how to do that.

That’s fine with me. I’m confident in my abilities to not be a dumbass and hit the key.

I BOUGHT TWO FLIP KEYS CUT AND READY TO INSTALL WITH THE ROLL PINS FOR MY 2015 FOR $39.90 ON EBAY FROM 1MIDATLANTICLOCKSMITH. YOU TAKE A PICTURE OF YOUR EXISTING KEY AND EMAIL IT TO THEM AND THEY SEND YOU THE TWO NEW CUT KEYS WITH ROLL PINS BY USPS. I WAS SOMEWHAT SKEPTICAL BUT WITH THE PAYPAL GUARANTEE I FIGURED I COULDN’T GO WRONG.

Exactly, I could only imagine what GM would do to the dealer if they found out they had a vehicle in for a recall and did not do it.

What I would worry about is that I did a FOB swap and bought a brand new OEM 'like' FOB and swapped a key into it, making it look exactly like factory.

If they touched that I would be super pissed as it was never theirs.

I was smart enough thought that when I had my BCM and window fixed last month at the dealer, I gave them my recall key, as I knew would they would do.

The issue is that your knee could hit the key during a violent incident, you know, like when physics, not your brilliant mind, is in control.

well the recall does not say anything even close to this. nowhere in the recall does it state that it could happen during a "violent incident"

in fact, it clearly states that it affects drivers that sit close to the steering column.....shorter people

"General Motors will recall all current generation Chevrolet Camaros because a driver’s knee can bump the key FOB and cause the key to inadvertently move out of the “run” position, with a corresponding reduction or loss of power.*

The issue, which may primarily affect drivers sitting close to the steering column, was discovered by GM during internal testing"

if i were short, then maybe i would have to consider it, but with my long ass legs, i couldnt bump that key even if i tried it

There is no recall on the 2015 for the key, easy to get it done at dealer. Since the key was separated from fob, ask they will tell you about the previous problem, but no official recall

CORRECT, NO RECALL ON 2015, MY CAMARO CAME WITH TWO “REGULAR KEYS”, AND TWO FOBS WITH NO SWITCHBLADE KEYS. BOTH FOBS HAVE THE BASE SWITCHBLADE ATTACHMENT WHICH ONLY REQUIRES A ROLL PIN TO ATTACH THE NEW SB KEY. I NOW HAVE FOUR KEYS THAT ALL WORK PERFECTLY.
THERE IS ALSO A GUY ON EBAY THAT MAKES A PLASTIC PIECE TO FILL IN THE EMPTY SLOT IF YOU DO NOT WANT A SB KEY IN THE FOB. IIRC HE HAS DIFFERENT COLORS WITH CAMARO PRINTED ON THEM. WHEN I BOUGHT MY CAMARO I THOUGHT THE EMPTY SLOT LOOKED STUPID LIKE SOMETHING WAS MISSING. I WOULD HAVE AT LEAST BOUGHT THE PLASTIC PIECE TO FILL IN THE EMPTY SLOT BUT I LIKE THE SB KEY.
