Not surprised. Manuals have more power than the autos. The only way auto is faster is if you have some who doesn't know how to drive a manual.

Most of those people are referring to in a straight line. In which a stalled auto will usually be faster.

Interesting. I'm glad I'll be autocrossing with the V6 then... lighter seems to do a bit better.

Not if you are a dragracer. In the hands of a professional driver the stick shift might be a gnat's eyelash quicker, but in the hands of us mere mortals, the auto will always win the drag race by being more consistent.

Autos are quicker 0-60 but slower through the 1320. Tons of info on here about L99 vs LS3.

I would think there would be more controversy over the auto vs. manual for just the V6.
The L99 has 26 less hp than the LS3, so that must make a difference.

Probably depends on the person who is driving the manual...if they're not that good, I would expect the auto to win.

If an equal or lesser-powered auto beats a stick in any race, straight or track, get rid of the driver of the stick.... I'm just sayin.....

You also have to consider the drivetrain loss (20% for auto, 15% for manual)

L99 A6 -- 400 * 0.80 = 320
LS3 M6 -- 426 * 0.85 = 362
LLT A6 -- 312 * 0.80 = 250
LLT M6 -- 312 * .0.85 = 265

The LS3 is putting about 13% more power to the ground. For the LLT the M6 is putting about 6% more power to the ground. Being a slow shifter can make the LLT M6 even with the A6, but it will take a lot for a stock L99 to overcome that large of a power difference. If you want to see real-life examples of this take a look at the fast list. Unmodded, the LS3s dominate. Bolt-ons the LS3s have a clear advantage. For engine mods and power adders there may be a slight advantage for the auto (most have converters), but remember these guys are serious and if they drive a manual they know how to shift.

Am I the only one who doesn't care which one is faster? I figure as long as you bought a Camaro (V6 or V8, Auto or Manual) you're good with me. Hell- I don't care if you bought a Mustang or a Challenger. All three are great cars, and as long as you buy the one that makes you the happiest then rock on!

Right on. I get tickled at all of the people who split hairs about every little thing. If every bit of speed is REALLY that important, then go buy a Ferrari or something.

There are many people who are letting this very thing ruin their Camaro experience. They think that because one car has two more cylinders it makes their car somehow inferior. It is not. These are ALL beautiful cars everyone. Enjoy them!!!!!!!!
