Lifter Upgrade: And Cam?

I currently have an Eforce SC, Rotfab and headers as my performance upgrades. I've heard concern about lifters being an issue, so I thought I would get those replaced, but I was thinking that since there's a bunch of crap that needs to be pulled for the lifters, why not do a mild cam as well.

My worry is if I do the cam that I'll need to do injectors(running the Eforce kit 52lbs injectors currently), rails, pump, etc. or can I just do the cam and de-tune the car.

Basically, if I have to have the engine partially pulled apart for the lifters, what can I have done for future stuff without replacing the whole fuel system at the same time. (fuel system next year).

Without you telling me your power level my guess you are in the low 500 range so i wouldn't worry much. Im low 600's right now and I just went with the full BTR Stage 3 PD Blower cam setup (Will be installing in the following weeks).

With that being said i would worry about your fueling now and then work on the cam and additional upgrades after. Id go with a fueling supply that serves more then what you may desire. (Dual Pump, Lines, 85lb or 1000lb injectors, ECT.)

I did the ZL1 fuel pump and ADM FPCM. That will do for me up to about 660 RWHP. I do have the ZL1 LSA conversion.

Always Johnson lifters and BTR valvetrain components.

So, are you recommending the fuel first as that won't help me address the immediate problem of the lifters.

I would do a camshaft package and get a set of ID-850 injectors for the time being. Then you can upgrade your fuel system next year and up the boost. The camshaft depending on the selection is going to bleed pressure or boost. I'd go with the BTR Stage 2 PD camshaft that is used in THIS package.

Please feel free to call, email or PM us anytime with questions. Good luck and have a great weekend.

Kind regards,

Whats your immediate concern with the lifters? I can understand your concern for your stock internals but there are many pushing a lot more without any issues. Depending on your budget i Would go fueling first and then go cam but thats just me. I had a buddy who did it backwards and maxed out his fueling supply on a cold morning and got on it and Kaboom went his engine. Instead of trying to max out your fueling supply id just get it knocked out of the way and then go for the cam upgrade and the top end benefits the cam packages provide.
