its a 2001 5.3L from a sierra 1/2 ton. I got the complete engine, accessory bracket, p/s pump water pump, harness to tranny, and ECU for $660 OTD.

The obnoxious orange paint is so that somoene doesn't scam their warranty with a bad core return. I can probably get it off with brake cleaner.

It's for the 57 belair.
Serious power that was definitely needed for the Belair! I like it!!!

Oh it is in the developement stages now.......I have a Mack Truck condensor that I am starting with to see how it works...trying to decide if I need another condensor or not.

I am going to be doing some testing on it this weekend so we will see how it goes.

gonna cash out mah headers for now yall.

Could use the money from these for my belair project.

S-mode made a HUGE difference in drivability with this car.

Cool, not quite what im looking for in headers but GLWS nonetheless...

I'm only going to say it once more....run out your tank of gas (if not 91 or 93)...fill up with one of those two...run about 1/4 tank through...and pull your fuses...................................hell if you have premium in the car now...walk out there and pull them...will take you all of 30 seconds...put them back tomorrow...

That combined with sport mode should make you

A mid 13s car will never make me

but it's sufficient, and will save me money not to work on it. The car has enough go in s mode to do what I need to do in traffic 90% of the time, and I never have won the lotto (really, like not even my $1 back.. ) so I have to prioritize.

I love my car, and I'd love to mod it, but having that almost wreck in the belair reminded me of just how important that car is to me from a sentimental standpoint, and I should be working on it and showing it, not hiding it away and letting it rot, or risking it's life on short little trips to the store because I haven't taken care of it.

If I can get off my butt I'm going to head to the east side in a few here to see if I can find some steel rims and tires for it to roll on after I do the disc brake conversion. Eventually I'd like to find some rims that I can have welded and balanced so that they can run the stock hubcap, but be about 8" wide instead of the stock 5".

Well if that's the case then sounds like you might need to trade it in.

I was each time I drove my 15 second V6 and now I'm each time I drive the SS. I guess we are all different...although I feel confident many of us here are to drive the car whether or not its a mid 13s car, 11 sec car, or a 15 sec car.

What exactly were you expecting from the SS? From the sounds of it you were expecting a Bugatti Veyron in terms of speed. Did you not research the car and its capabilities before you bought it? It says its a mid 13s car online and if that doesn't make you happy then I'm confused as to why you'd purchase it.

/rant

On terms of the Belair...if that's what you enjoy then go for it....and you should make a build thread somewhere maybe in the general automotive section here and keep your progress. I'm sure it'd be cool to go back and read everything you've said and done when the project is finished. That's basically the only reason for my build thread....I don't care if people go and post in it and complement me...yeah thats wonderful and I appreciate every single one who does come in and post, but I use it mainly so I can go back and just re-read everything...re live the memories...and every once in a while maybe give someone an idea.

Sorry for ranting up there...don't take it personally....I just haven't ever seen a person complain so much about how slow a V8 Camaro is.

-----------------------------
I hope to try to make it to C&O next week...but I may be going out of town to OH and having to leave Sunday morning.

I bought it for 3 reasons really.

1. my 4th gen had a long way to go and was costing me a lot of money, I may as well make payments than to spend ~$1200 a month on an old car.
2. I really liked my 4th gen, and the 5th gens look great, they're very attractive cars and fun to drive, even if they are a little slow. It has a LOT of creature comforts and makes a great commuter car (even if the fuel economy is poor.) The HUD, bluetooth and reverse camera are awesome features that I simply love in the car. It's quiet and comfortable to cruise in on long trips and has the passing power needed on the highway (for the most part.)
3. I am a huge fan of GM LSx engines, and am rather familiar with the zeta platform. A year or 2 ago, I attempted to buy a G8 GT, but the dealership was crazy and tried to sell me on a 9% APR.. so I walked. My familiarity with the platform combined with these other things are the reasons I bought the car.

I do not dislike the car, I do not underestimate it's potential as a performer, simply put in it's stock form, it's not that impressive to me from a performance standpoint.

What do I want form the car? Mid to low 12s potential (driver aside.. THIS driver probably couldn't pull 15s. ) I know it can be done, but the cost is more than I'm willing to bear at this time. (About $2500-3000 from what I can tell.. tune, stall, CAI, LTs/cats.)

knowing the potential without realizing it is why the car does not make me

however, with S-mode it does make me and that's good enough for right now.

I have a build thread on LS1tech. I got the rims I need, now I need tires. First though I gotta make sure the rims fit on the car before I dump dough on new tires. (I don't want NEW tires, but finding a 215/65/15 used has proven harder than I expected.)
