One of the problems that was encountered with the restrictor plate was that once you mount the plate in the filter and mount it on the blower, there was no way of knowing if it would stay in place. I remember a couple of times when the restrictor plate fell out of place. ECS said they would be working on a new plate that consisted of coupling that would go around the inlet of the blower, taking up the space between the O.D. of the inlet and I.D. of the filter. The restrictor hole would be welded on the coupling.

I thought the restrictor had two screw holes to fasten it in the filter.

Maybe. I honestly can't remember. I took mine out about two years ago. I do remember however that when I install my headers and took the filter off, the plate was just laying inside the filter. I'm lucky it didn't hit the impeller. About 6 months later though, the silicon did get sucked up, and tore it apart. Talk about seeing hard work go down the drain. Luckily, ECS replaced it at no charge and sent a love note to Vortech. When I had mine, I remember the plate was designed so that it would sit in the lip of the filter right after the inlet opening that led to the rest of the filter.

This is fixed already.. The new air filters have a purpose built slot in them that takes a bit of coaxing to install, but it will never fall out.

No, the Camaros never had this design. The C5/C6 kits utilize two to three self tappers to make sure the air intake tube cannot come off.

Oh ok thanx. I never seen the restrictor in person and only seen a pic online but wasn't sure if that's what ECS used across the board.

Kit came in tonight. Although the blower was not in the box. Paperwork says it was shipped separately.

Come across my first hiccup. Can not remember how the alternator bracket goes on. Only comes close this way but the bolt is just too low.

It looks like you're on the wrong side. The alternator sits below the power steering pump and the brackets for that bolt into the head.

Solved the alternator issue. Now I need to know which crank bolt to use. The black one it seems the washer keeps it from going all the way in. The other bolt came off the crank pinning kit. If I use the silver one it goes all the in but needs a washer to keep the dowels in.

The black one is hardened grade8, do not use crank pin bolt.... but a better investment would be an ARP crank bolt with is reuse able rather than torque to yield...

Make sure to put thread locker on tip of bolt and use silicone gasket sealer on both sides of black washer

Your using the ECS hub, looks good! I went ATI underdrive but having issues.... Instal and pin went great, but the rite bolts for ECS crank accessory pulley through the ati hub has me confused? Any one else in here running that combo? I think I got the rite model super damper but will only accept 3 bolt for accessory pulleys not 6....
