Battery / Charging Voltage
Hey all,
Driving home yesterday car went into battery saver mode. On console, battery voltage showed 11.2 - Brought the car in for service and they said it was the alternator. Got new alternator installed. Voltage on console now fluctuates between around 12.2 - 14.5 when driving. Is that normal? i could have sworn it stayed pretty consistent prior to the new alternator.

Hey sixt3denied,
If a battery starts to go under 12V then that means it is dying. Sounds normal now, but it might need to be replaced soon. How old is the battery? |

Car is a 2012. So battery about 4 years old? I put a voltmeter on the alternator when car was in battery saver mode - and alternator was only putting out about 11.2 which is too low to charge battery. But yeah now i'm thinking the battery is going too :(

Still rocking my stock battery. Get a new one and see if that works.

Was a load test done on the battery as part of the alternator replacement ? If your battery is 4 yrs old you are on borrowed time. Places like Advance Auto will do a load test on your battery for free. If it's OK, get it checked every so often because when it dies, you'll need a jump to get home.

Its the battery. I have the same exact issue as you are.
My battery will go down to 11.x and back up to 14.x after some driving. It caused my center console/radio to have electrical issues as well. Going to be getting a new battery sometime this week. BTW, how do you know when your car is in battery saver mode ? I have a 2013 2LS. |

I just got this same error showing on my screen. I went to pep boys and had them run a diagnostic and its saying the alternator is shot. I had to order one as no one has this stock in town. Does anyone have the instructions on how to replace the alternator on the V6 engine?
