So I got my myLink radio today from Gen5DIY install went pretty smooth had to reach out to them for a few things. I highly recommend upgrading if you want to keep it factory style.

I had a buddy install mine a couple of weeks ago. Really like the communication I had with Ofer and Jarod prior to pulling the trigger on this. I really have to give Gen5DIY at lot of propers on packaging, instructions and just the over all delivery, professionally done!

Not trying to jack the thread but I love having an OEM look and always liked the MyLink since I saw it. It was a must have so I got it with Nav & backup camera. My age I need it as the backup sensors are nice but the cam is it. My buddy also did a speaker upgrade as well as amp since he had the car torn apart and added Alpine amp and sub thump, Polk speakers and I'm completely happy!

The amp hasn't been tuned but this is the basic sound of what I have now which is way better than before, and center dash speaker disabled.

I would like to paint just the screen faceplate RJT.

Alpine amp and Alpine Sub Thump

Driving the IMS Festival Cars last year and this year, having the backup came made it nice lining up and parking the cars on the track in rows of 3's so I wanted it just for parking advantages.

Anyone thinking about this retro fit should do it.

What was the cost to upgrade. I want to do this, but I need nav and heated seats.

Ofer has the pricing information on his web page, Gen5DIY and he's on Facebook as well. Need to go through and select your year of car, heated seats or not, whether you want backup camera etc and the prices are listed.

was installing the backup camera a pain

I didn't do my install, a friend did. Came by and picked up the car around 1pm and by midnight had everything done except backup camera and my amp and speakers. He's very meticulous about cars and his work so he took his time. He said it was pretty much straightforward and my car had the location for it already being a 2SSRS. There is a black cover above the license plate that's indicative of accepting the camera without modification.

I want to get mine installed and tested, but I need to save up to get his wiring harness!! My Mylink has been sitting in a box for a few months..

As long as the radio is unlocked to a VIN you are good. Where did you get your mylink?

Question... how did you deal with the door lock/unlock button? Looks like it was in the original radio bezel, but not in the new one.

I got the harness for the door Lock/Unlock and it's tucked in behind the head unit. I can honestly say I've never used this button, ever in 2 cars now but not having one I'm sure the need will arise. I plan to buy the switch and eventually hook it up but for now, there's no real need as the doors lock when put in gear and unlock when in park.
