Who is the last Super Bowl winner whose QB had a mega-contract?

Yep, and two of those were fluky.

Here's a great article on how giving QB's mega-deals has not translated into success.

The reality is this, you dont find many elite QBs...and when you do, you keep them.

Or you can go ask teams like the Bills, 49ers, Cowboys, Dolphins, Raiders and a few other teams how it feels to be doormats without a good QB

Don't forget the Browns...

Here's a list of the highest QB cap hits for last year...

Joe Flacco, Baltimore, $24.55 million
Carson Palmer, Arizona, $24.125 million
Kirk Cousins, Washington, $23.943 million
Matt Ryan, Atlanta, $23.75 million
Matthew Stafford, Detroit, $22 million
Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay, $20.3 million
Cam Newton, Carolina, $20.166 million
Philip Rivers, Los Angeles Chargers, $20 million
Eli Manning, N.Y. Giants, $19.7 million
Andrew Luck, Indianapolis, $19.4 million
Drew Brees, New Orleans, $19 million
Russell Wilson, Seattle, $18.8 million
Ben Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh, $18.2 million
Sam Bradford, Minnesota, $18 million
Alex Smith, Kansas City, $16.9 million
Derek Carr, Oakland, $15.7 million
Andy Dalton, Cincinnati, $15.7 million
Tom Brady, New England, $14 million
Mike Glennon, Chicago, $14 million
Jay Cutler, Miami, $10 million
Tyrod Taylor, Buffalo, $9.7 million
Jameis Winston, Tampa Bay, $6.9 million
Marcus Mariota, Tennessee, $6.6 million
Blake Bortles, Jacksonville, $6.57 million
Josh McCown, N.Y. Jets, $6.5 million
Jared Goff, L.A. Rams, $6.4 million
Carson Wentz, Philadelphia, $6 million
Brian Hoyer, San Francisco, $5.3 million
DeShone Kizer, Cleveland, $899,711
Tom Savage, Houston, $765,146
Dak Prescott, Dallas, $635,848
Trever Siemian, Denver, $628,196

Who were the Final 4? Jaguars, Patriots, Vikings, Eagles

You have to go all the way to #14, Sam Bradford, before you get to one of those teams.

Granted Rodgers and Luck were hurt, but neither one of those teams were going to make a deep run anyway... especially not the Colts.

The way to win Super Bowls is to either have the best QB ever (Brady) play for half of what he could get, or build a strong team around a young QB you don't yet have to pay.

Giving the likes of Flacco, Dalton, Cousins, and Stafford tons of money is just stupid and clearly does not lead to playoff success.

But when you do get that young qb, and he helps get your team to the playoffs/sb, when his contract is up, what are you going to do, let him go? No, you pay him what he’s worth. Look at the top half of your list and bottom half. How many playoff games have they been to? SB’s?

Obviously Brady is the exception to the rule. Wentz, Goff mariota and Winston are all on their rookie contracts so you can’t count them either. Once their contracts are up, they all will be top half of that list

And the bottom line, if a coach/owner believes they have a franchise QB, they keep them, as they believe they are the best chance they have of winning. Franchise qb’s are not easy to find

Saying that, I do think the top 5 are highly overpaid.

Along those lines.....

It will be interesting to see how Texas does provided Watson is 100% this year.

With his "skills", and talent around him (both offense and defense) they should be a real contender and if so when his contract is up he could rewrite what QB's are paid. Throw the 1st 2 games out and his stats were ridiculous for those 5 games.

Kansas City’s offense is one I’m ready to see. Scary potential

If everybody stays healthy and out of trouble, you know who is going to have a good offense?

Cleveland.

Don't laugh... wait and see.

A good offense? Maybe. Mayfield is going to be a good QB in the NFL IF the Browns can protect him. That's a tall order for a franchise that is on like #35 starting QB in the last 20 years.

However, that defense is going to be scary good...so I won't be surprised if they go 6-10...
