Need Help! Misfiring over 4000 rpms

On the way to work this morning I was accelerating and the "service stibilitrak" warning came on and I could feel a loss of power when accelerating. So I dropped it off at my dealer to have it checked out. They said it showed the number 2 and 6 cylinders had misfired about 4200 rpms but they didn’t know why. They checked the plugs, wires and even did an exhaust pressure test to see if one of the cats had failed, everything seemed ok. Tomorrow they are going to check the cylinders for any problems....

My main concern is if any of my upgrades could have caused any internal damage??? Motor is basically stock with no tune. All I have done is the normal CAI, shorty headers, Solo H/F cats and custom 2.75" straight pipes with no mufflers.

Could running these mods with no tune be so lean to cause any internal damage? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My first thought was the stabilitrak was appling the brakes when accelerating hard. So i thought maybe a sensor was failing....but maybe its as simple as replacing the plugs and wires. I guess I'll know more tomorrow after they check the cylinders out. All i do know is at wot it falls flat on its face. It really sucks big time, this may jeopardize my first camaro5fest...

Could be alot of different things prob something simple I'm sure. My guess would be if it has been running lean than they would be able to tell from the plugs rather easy. How long after mods did this start?

Mods have been on for 10,000+ miles.

Ok, here is an update: Cylinders checked out fine….that’s the best news no internal damage. We switched the wires and around and hooked up to the computer everything look good. Took it for a test drive and…same thing over 4000 rpms code goes off and still missing on 2 and 6. So they switched the coils around and walla fixed……..been testing it for a couple days now and the car is running awesome.

I am a little concerned it will come back possible on the cylinders they put the 2 and 6 coils on. Can coils fail over 4000 rpms on one cylinder and work fine on another?

I was thinking when they go bad they were bad. Maybe there were bad connections somewhere??? I’m glad I have two weeks to test it out before heading out to the fest.
