Do you really think that insurance companies have not thought about people doing this. I am sure if you read your policy you will see that they have their butt covered 100% on your little idea.
Ya I figured that out when I actually thought about it. It sounded like a cool idea but isn't practical. I think Im just gonna go with 2SS 2013, not sure how much I should pay really they have them marked up at around 33k for 15k miles or so.

Holy shit! For shits and giggles I got a quote from Geico for a 2006 Lamborghini Gallardo Special Edition and it was less than that! And that's a few years after having a total loss claim with them!

Damn is right! Maybe it's time to spend 15 minutes to save on your car insurance.

Seriously you have to be able to get a better rate than that.

To answer your original question, it would be very expensive to put a V8 in the LT. I used to have a 2010 2LT/RS, I also had it supercharged. Problem is the Bosch ECU is a PITA to tune correctly. My system had more problems than it was worth. Rumor has it HP Tuners is about to open up tuning tables for the LLT / Bosch ECU. Still though it isn't worth it IMHO, and I've already been down that road..
interesting, the LFX has a more tune friendly ecu from what I have heard on this site.

If you can't afford the insurance, then you can't afford the V8 Swap. It'd cost way more than you WOULD pay insurance for a year at the $380/mo rate.

Keep the V6, get a good job, save some money and buy something better later. You're too young and it seems as if you're not in an outstanding financial situation right now to make this move. Thank me in 5 years. Don't go into debt over a car...especially at 21.

Insurance gets cheaper at 25 anyway, and maybe you should shop around on your insurance a little...

Same here. I paid off my camaro so that's what I was paying with just liability. Had I kept collision, I'd be paying $10k a yr. And that's NOT my primary vehicle.
