CEL few weeks after K&N intake install
Anyone know why the check engine light after I installed K&N air intake. Got the intake off of Craigslist, so not sure what model it is. No light for a few weeks, now the CEL is on. Anyone know about this or how it can be fixed?

Because these K&N's are known to throw CEL's. You might want to try claning the MAF sensor and/or redoing the install as well.

nah it's cause you got the aircharger. the typhoon won't throw a CEL. the aircharger has better performance than the typhoon, but at the risk of the CEL...which u got

I installed one 2 times and I had a CEL each time after a few days. I tried it on a friend 2011 and he never got a CEL. Can't figure what is going on. A few members had the CEL problem with K&N.
Try to re-install but with the battery disconnected, if it doens'nt solve the CEL problem, your engine does'nt like the K&N and you might have to go through and other route.

Yeah, I had this same intake and every so often it would cause a CEL. Liked the intake a lot but didn't like the CEL so I contacted K&N and they were gracious enough to give me a refund so I went with CAI and haven't had one CEL since.

Thanks for choosing CAI Inc., glad to hear that you are happy and no longer getting CEL's like you were with some of the other CAI's you tried.

RickJack - anything to read the code with? I'm leaning towards unmetered air - check the seating and tightness of the pipe clamps.

Try to get your money back from whoever got your intake from and tell them you're getting a cel honestly but that's my opinion and go with a intake with like cai inc...

If it comes back on (which it probably will) get a refund and go with a brand (such as CAI) where you can read multiple reviews on how nobody has had any problems. |
