Allocation policy change?

I read that GM was changing the position on allocations. Anybody know about this?

yes, i heard (don;t take it as gospel) that they are going to try to make it harder for dealers to mark up. More camaros sold = more camaro allocations. less camaros sold (b/c of insane mark up) = less camaro allocations. I believe the current system is based on number of cars sold total (not just Camaros). If you sell 1000 cars a month but no camaros, you will likely get few allocations under the new system... before you would have got a lot b/c you were a big volume dealer.

edit... like the other said FIFO theory

just what I head, could be

does the # of Corvettes a dealer sells affect the process? I've heard it does but no one has been able to confirm this.

yes, the current system. Corvette, Cobalts, Aveo... everything. Total sales. sell more cars = get more cars BUT... the new way is specific to Camaros. FIFO on camaros, who cares how may Aveos and Cobalts you sell.

The old way opened it up for the big dealers to have crazy mark up b/c they could actually get the cars. The smaller guys couldn't so you either paid the mark up at the big guys or you didn't get the car and it would sit until someone does pay morkup (which they always do). now this will hurt them. better to move more cars. smaller dealers have more of a chance to move cars.

So does this mean longer wait or a shorter wait?

it depends on your dealer... you need to go to your dealer and ask the RIGHT questions:

How many cars are at 1100 ahead of me? I had 3 when i placed on 5/23

What is your weekly allocation schedule? My dealers schedule for june (june 15-july 15) was 2-1-0-0-1 for the 5 tuesdays in that date range. I was the "1" before the two weeks of "0" for shut down.

If you ask those two questions you should get more information. If there are 10 orders at 1100 infront of you, expect the wait to be long!

i heard that if ur dealer is one of the dealerships that is going off the GM account that you may not get your car from them if ur car order havent already been picked up by GM. A dealer thats going out of business cant order any cars from GM this is what I was told by my order manager that I ordered from there one on the closing list
