The 6th Gen Tremec TR3160 in the V6

Since all the issues with the 5th gen M6 on the V6's.....
million dollar question....
Will the new Tremec TR3160 that is going into the 6th gen, plug and play in the 5th gen?

Not sure the answer to the OP's question, but a scan of the interweb shows that a version of the TR3160 is going into the GT350.

This is a pic (possibly) of the ATS version. Should be the same one going on the Camaro. Bell housing looks different than the AY6, but removable.

Current AY6

Yea but that could be a good thing. Use a different clutch in it with a different bell housing that just has the same bolt pattern. Might give the option of the previous generation of tremec with the new bell housing

It appears very similar in overall length, and the bell housing to tranny bolt pattern looks to be a close match. If not, I'm sure the aftermarket would step in to make rated bell housings for drag use.

I've been curious about this too. If the bolt patter is the same on the LGX as the LFX then we can simple grab the bell housing from the new 6th gen and grab the TR3160 used in the GT350 and have a much stronger and nicer transmission in our V6.

Plus, since it is used in the new GT350, there is a high chance of some nice build kits being made for it in the future to allow it to handle even more power and torque!

Calm down people, I'm working on getting an LFX-to-Tremec TR6060 conversion worked out.

I do not, I do most of my stuff via Facebook, as this forum gets depressing sometimes.

I had one manufacturer that was interested in the bellhousing conversion, but couldn't move forward on it due to prior engagements. I'm now on to my second manufacturer to see if they'd be interested in it. When the time comes, I may have to work out some kind of group buy, as they may want to sell a certain number of them to make it worth their while, but we'll find out soon.
