Can't be done... Let's see!
Hello my fellow camaro family, I am getting ready to start a project that has been said to be "impossible". Well let's see how this goes. I am starting a v8 swap into my 2012 IBM V6 Camaro. I have bought a donor car for all of the parts. I bought a wrecked SS and will be going to pick it up this coming week. Anyone interested in listening to this build?

The reason most say not to do it is cost to swap vs. cost to upgrade to the SS. If the OP has found a donor car for a reasonable price then sure it is definitely an option.

Who said it can not be done? There will be many other changes outside of just the engine, but people have been doing this for years in all different types of cars. Your info says you have a 2SS/RS, which would have a V8 in it, or do you have a second Camaro? Two other things. One, if this is the car that you plan on changing, and it is actually a 2LT, it will not be a 2SS when you switch engines (and all that goes with it). It will be a 2LT with an engine swap. Two, I would bet for the money and time you are going to put into this, you can find a 2SS to trade for that will put you way ahead of the game.

1) Start a thread in the Member Journals section (http://www.camaro5.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=50) 2) Keep and share a detailed list of all parts, prices and issues you run into. Good luck!

Impossible?
My first car was a 4 cylinder Pinto back in the 1970's. 4 cylinders, yuck. A few Saturday's in my friend's driveway later and it had a V8.

I'm not sure anyone has ever said it was impossible. I'm sure it's possible. With enough money anything is possible. I'm also sure that it offers a certain amount of personal gratification and accomplishment doing the swap versus trading in your 6 for an 8. Nevertheless, you won't catch me doing it. I would guess that you can kiss the resale value of your LT goodbye too.

I'm sure it can be done but its going to be a ton of work. Personally I would sell and just buy a real SS. Good luck!!

Why do you have SS badges on your V6?
