Opinions on price for custom leather job

The dealer recommended a guy that removes the cloth from your seats and replaces it with a custom leather job. For an LT. Quoted $1490, does that sound like a good deal? They will look basically like 2LT leather seats, Im getting solid black, of course.

If I was you I'd get used OEM leather seats...that way you know they are of good quality and your resale will probably be better. Also they will be cheaper most likely.

It's probably Katzkin... supposedly as high of quality as OEM, but the key is getting a good installation. I've seen some sloppy fitting aftermarket leather, and have seen some great jobs too. I've even seen factory covers installed as a replacement to cloth with lousy, loose fitting results, so I'm sure a good installer is key for a nice, tight fitting, factory appearing job.

Can sometimes find low mileage used OEM leather seats for about $600 +/-

Iv had this done at a dealership. for that price you get Katzkin with the same leather content as OEM. They will not fit as tight as oem as they are made in bulk. I got a qoute from the dealer and told them I wanted 100% leather and they said they were. I had custom embroidery done on them and when I picked my truck up I saw they were vinyl. the dealer had to replace them with 100% leather embroidery and installation and eat the cost.
these are the 100% leather. Id go to a custom interior or audio store. Thats what the dealer did. The dealer calls a local kazkin dealer and orders them through them then has them come out and install it. I could have had it done a lot cheaper if I had gone right to the place they had do it.

most aftermarket are not 100% either. you have to custom order 100%. this place will do 100% https://www.leatherseats.com/vehicle...earSelect=2012

I just bought a 2012 maxima with the old lady. The dealer had katskinz installed before they put it on the lot, and it is awesome. I'd prefer it to any factory leather unless you want factory heat.
