Reindex-Window Error Tied to Battery Dead/Almost Dead?

My 2016 is back in the shop for the persistent window-indexing problem. Last time, they replaced the window motor module. This time, the error came right after the car sat for three days and almost did not start. We'll see what comes from it this time.

Speaking of the battery dying, has anyone heard if Quality has any leads on the problem? I talked to them at camarofest a couple years ago and they were aware of it, but had no resolution yet.

Do you have anything non-OEM that is electrical plugged into the car? If the battery voltage drops down too low it could possibly trip the indexing feature.

The stock battery is an AGM battery, they dont do well when ran down really low and some chargers wont charge them if the battery voltage is below 6v.

Well, they replaced the window motor and the battery, both under warranty.

Hopefully, Quality figures out something soon...

Car struggled to start last week, since then each time I start car the display says “lower & raise window”. I have to do this each time I start & today the seat memory isn’t adjusting upon starting. When looking at the battery voltage display it seems to bounce between 11-12, sometimes it’ll hit 14, but rare.

Any ideas? This battery is almost 1 year old. original battery died at about 16months.

Have the dealer test the battery, power window motor, and mention the seat memory. :( It does not sound good.

I'm really thinking I had better get an extended warranty, and fast....

Yikes... my bumper to bumper ended at 36k miles. So I’ll be going broke taking it to the dealer. I might just try buying a new battery from local parts store & pray.

I’ve had bad luck with this car (as with all GMs I’ve owned since 06), I need to cut my losses soon & downgrade to a Toyota 4Runner. (Need room for kids).

I know you have to reindex the windows every time you disconnect the battery, or at least I have had to.

So it would make sense to me that if you had a bad battery and the voltage dropped enough when you started the car to reset the window module the same way a battery disconnect does, the same thing would happen.

Sure, but it should not take out the window motor. Helluva coincidence...

I’ve never had the window index message. But when I was constantly connecting and disconnecting the negative cable when hooking up my subs it was cools down inch by inch. Then when I noticed it wouldn’t go up but only down. This was with the door open. Once I closed the door it when up and then no problem.

I was out of warranty, but since this was the third one, they covered it.
