Mickey Thompson ET Street S/S at the strip

Just got some 17x9.5 racestars and the street ss in 305/45 /17 . Mounted and balanced out the door at $1250. I have a stock M6 2010 camaro ss. The tire guy said a slick would snap my axel(do not want lol) This would be my dedicated track setup. Wanted you guys' opinions about psi, launch rpm , and hook for the track. After doing some research the street ss might not be the best for a manual tranny? I called mickey thompson and the guy that answered the phone said those would not hook well on a manual tranny with my heavy chevy 😞

I thought the radials snaps axles and the slicks were best for manual trans

Either tire can snap an axle if the conditions are right and you dead hook. Slicks will have a lot of sidewall flex (DRs dont have much at all if any) and that helps lower the shock on the drivetrain from a manual launch so i would think they are less likely to snap things.

Fur sure man. I was just giving a little bit of the science behind the whole situation

Should have got Hoosier bias ply slicks for the manual trans. Now that you are stuck with the MT SS, I'd start around 22-23 lbs and drop a lb until you hook. I ran 17 lbs with slicks/manual and run 17.5 lbs with DRs/auto now.

Curious what drag radial are you running now?
I was looking at the DOT Hoosier Quick Time Pro 28x11.5 bias(only a 24lb tire), but seems everyone likes the MT. I have M&H 325/45/17 DR and they where good enough for a 1.5 60' last season but have seen better days. Just trying to decide the best tire for these heavy auto cars.
Thoughts?

I run MT ET Street R 305/45*17 currently. I am planning on replacing them with MT ET Street R 315/50*17 and adjusting my coil overs accordingly. It will give me an adjusted final ratio of 3.50 from 3.73 with the extra 1.5" of tire diameter. Also bigger contact patch and more sidewall.

Appreciate it!
So going to a 29.4" tall tire doesn't turn on all your dummy lights or go in to "limp mode"? Or do you pull the ABS fuse and call it a day?
Just asking since I have 28's up front and seem to remember something being said about staying within an inch of those to avoid problems.
I have adjustable coilovers but lowered down so maybe not the route for mine

I would pull the 2 fuses just as a precaution. I have seen a guy run 28 front and 29.5 rear with no problems but why not be safe just in case. I would lose my electric power assist steering while the fuses were out.
I have adjustable too. Raising them up would help with camber for launch. And if I count correctly, I can drop them back down for street tires without need for alignment.

Be interesting to see how it turns out for you!
I have 3.91s so think it would put me somewhere in the 3.74 range going to the 315/50*17. I'm really running out of gear on the big end right now unless I pull it out pretty far in 4th.

I'm 4L80e, so I am maxing out around 1200 ft. The 315s would get me through the entire 1320.

1/8 would be just shifting 2 to D as I cross the beams.
