I probably wouldn't want to go up against you in a drag race...lol!! Mine is mainly for show. I did my first clay bar cleaning on it ever. Never did that to any other vehicle I've owned, but it was worthwhile spending 2 hours on it today.

Nice job I wish I could have worked on mine outside in a t-shirt. I did put my newly painted hex vents back on in the garage today. I need to update my build journal with some mods I have done recently. Maybe tomorrow.

Updating your build thread is a good task for yucky weather days. Hope you get some good weather ones soon!

First time checking out your build thread, Excellent job! Especially loved all your Drag Racing videos! That's some darn good driving. Looks like you're really enjoying Life! Great to see ya getting your hands dirty under the hood.

Thanks. I am having a blast. I can't wait to get my headers & tune on & see how Ruby will do on the track this year.
A word of warning to any of you 6'ers who plan on removing the felt blanket from the engine. It you plan to remove it like I did without taking everything apart, wear goggles! I very quickly figured out that when you cut it, there is fiberglass insulation inside. At that point I put on rubber gloves to protect my hands but did not think about putting on goggles. I was careful not to touch my face while working on it but it was windy. I was pretty miserable all day yesterday. I thought at first is was just this bad cold I have been battling, but by the end of the day my right eye was very red & swollen. I thought I was getting pink eye but the symptoms did not match. I am convinced now that some of that fiberglass dust must have blown into my eyes & sinus passages. I feel better today but wanted to put this warning out there in case someone else is planning to try this.

Is this the first car you've taken on the dragstrip? Its on my bucket list as well as a road/track course. I have zero racing experience, but would love to give it a try sometime.

Yep. I would have never thought I'd do it either. One of our club officers scheduled a club event at our local 1/8th mi drag strip & we just lined up against each other. It was such a blast, we do it X2 every year now plus going to the 1/4 mi track at Bowling Green, Ky a time or 2 every year plus LS Fest there every year. And then of course I had to be in the mix for the 2 Camaro5 Fests in Indy. I absolutely love it. A few folks in the club had raced some before & they helped rookies like me then I asked a lot of questions & read on the Dragstrip, Tracking, Autocrossing, Driving Techniques Discussions http://www.camaro5.com/forums/index.php thread to learn more. I even love it when a super fast car blows me off the track but don't think I don't love it even more when I beat someone who clearly should have beat me. I once beat a ZL1, once a supercharged SS & a number of SS's. Then there were the Mustangs I have beat. Loved that too!
You should definately do it! You can for once put pedal to the metal legally & see just what your baby can to. The adrenaline rush & super permagrin are addictive!

Crap! Now I have to punt! I was going to get my headers & tune done then get my front sway bar done. But now Pedder's has gone out of business. I am hustling to try to find me what I need before it is all gone. I may have to delay getting my tune a bit longer now. Hopefully I can find what I need & then save a bit more & get everything done at once. I can't believe both Pedder's & Pfadt have gone down. What the heck is going on???????????????
