Seeing how it has a factory cai and "possibly" better exhaust manifolds I say it's going to have a few more ponies then 505. On the flip side we don't know how the cai compares to the vette setup and the ls7's really didn't gain much from headers since the exhaust manifolds was one of the the best flowing stockers ever made so....

I'm sure it will. Send the heads out to get Solid Stainless exh. valves and bronze guides. Have em machined to 11.5 : 1 at the same time.

That and the 327 has the same 4" bore but a 3.25" stroke crank. Where did this article come from? Full of BS.

Just for reference... in a 3800lbs. car that is good for a low 11 (high 10) at 130mph give or take a few up or down. The drivetrain is what will probably make the biggest difference I think. I can remember when I picked up a 408ci for my z28 about 8-9 years ago that in a corvette, compared to a camaro the rwhp would be less (~20rwhp-~30rwhp) in the vette. Drivetrain made the difference.. different tolerances, different coefficient of friction, etc. nothing else changed. But I finished reading that the Z28 will be more expensive than the ZL1. Well... that is just horrible news. I Kinda killed the excitement from yesterday for me.

Accessories will be a little different, as will the oilpan. Longblock (sans pan) will be the same. We may or may not be making an announcement about this soon....but you saw it here on C5 first. |

I was wondering if this LS7 was going to have the same valve guide wear issues as past LS7's as well. If owners do have to send the heads off for new valve guides just to run a tune that will be crap. New Z28 owners shouldnt have to deal with those issues on this car especially since GM has known about the issue for 5+ years.

will they use the same trans gears and rear gears as the track proven 1le? the 1le shares the same trans gears as the z06 but the z06 oddly enough has 3.42's rear gears while the 1le has 3.91's. only reason i see why the z06 get's pretty decent fuel economy compared to the 1le when compared stock to stock

I guess the Z/28 just seemed to be a more mainstream street car and the ZL1 was rarely seen on the street. Don't get me wrong I love the car and the return of the Z/28 I personally need a few more basic creature comforts like a radio...lol Manual is the only way to go though so no complaints there. Also, if I am not mistaken... in order to qualify the first Z/28 could not exceed 302 CI and must be a normal production car to qualify. |

Just as in the ZL1, seems an auto with paddle shifters would be faster...would also get me off the fence. Would like to know moe about suspension and rear gear as well....
Still sounds like an awesome muscle car!! With all the tech advances we CAN have the best of both worlds! |

Couple of things
Tires are only 26.2" tall vs. 27.9 for 1LE and 28.7 for LS, LT and SS.
So there is a 6.5 percent torque multiplication advantage vs. the 1LE tire, rearend, transmission package. Cruising rpms are 6.5 percent higher as well. Somebody said that it will have the best power to weight ratio of any Camaro. I don't know if that is true but if the ZL1 s 7.1 lbs per hp. And the Z28 is 7 lbs per hp for example, and it weighs 3750 lbs, then the the LS7 will have to have 535 hp. I don't think they are going to get 535 hp unless the do a little something to the cam but that is the calculation. Regardless, this car is going to be a badass and highly collectible. |
