When people sneeze, and you say "bless you", do you know why? The origin of this comes from a time when it was believed that when a person sneezed, it was a way that the body was expelling evil spirits.
The 'appropriate' response was to "bless" the person before the evil spirits could re-enter the body after they had been expelled.

Extra high voltage power lines (500kV and above, typically) require routine maintenance/inspection. But because the lines are typically so high in the air, doing this from the ground proves to be especially difficult. So the most common method is to put a man inside a specialized suit that acts as a Faraday cage, and have him crawl along the conductors some 180 to 220 feet above ground. The suit prevents him from being affected by the thousands of amps coursing through the line.
Here's a cool video to show you what that's like: In the video you'll see the guy on the outside of the helicopter touching a rod to the line before he clips on. This is to bring the helicopter to the same energy potential as the power line so that the worker doesn't get shocked when he moves from the helicopter to the power line. Even though he's wearing the suit, that much energy potential passing through the suit instead of the rod would set the suit on fire.

A day used to be a little over 21 hours, but the Earths rotation has been slowed down by the tides over billions of years.

Life has been on Earth for about 4.5 billion years. Since that time, over 99% of all species to ever live on Earth is now extinct. Homosapiens will be no different.

A parsec is a unit of distance, not time...therefore Han's claim about the Millenium Falcon's speed makes no sense :(

The banana (as we know it) is the result of hundreds of years of human cultivation and cannot survive on its own without human intervention. It's through human 'artificial selection' or selective breeding, generation after generation, the banana has become, but was not always, the perfect food.
Mankind has literally shaped the modern banana into what it is today. The ORIGINAL banana, complete with seeds, looks like this, Mmmm!

Microwave ovens were called 'Radar Ranges' at first becasue it was a radar experiemtn that led to the device, when a choclate bar melted in a man's pocket A healthy horse can produce 20 lbs of manure a day The World of JRR Tolkien's 'The Hobbit' is...Earth, but with a fantasy pre-history. He wanted to create a mythology for Engand that was as grand as that of Rome, Greece, Scandinavia, etc My cat's breath smells like cat food While serving in the Marines, Steve McQueen tried to soup up a tank. Despite his efforts, it went exactly as slow as it did before. He aslo was a legit hero and saved five Marines' lives First Generation Camaros were built in Canada too- just not all of them The first ZL-1 delivered in 1969 refused to start when it got off the auto carrier Two 1969 ZL-1 Corvettes were made which everyone knows, but one is the famous "Drug car" that was auctioned off by the US government, and was in yellow and black. The other one is white with blue '69 ZL-1s caould have the 'chambered' exhuast, which was factory option that had no mufflers Most prototype muslce cars were scrapped after their show season due to insurance reasons- can't be insured for DOT use due to experiemental or non-approved equipment. The prototype 1970 Buick GSX was never scrapped and was fully DOT legal. It was fully restored with all the show-car features, such as rear bucket seats, unque hood, spoilers, and interior, and was driven to shows. A true "one of none produced" rarity. And it is powered by its original Stage 1 455

Two days after we rescued Capt. Scott O'Grady we flew the media onboard and reenacted everything for the nightly news back home. When I got home I heard it was aired as actual footage, which it was… actual reenacted footage!
