We got the new carpet installed and all of the seats put back in. I hate to put those torn up seats in the car, but they are pretty low on the list of priorities. I very glad to get the interior back in the car after tripping over it for 2 weeks laying around in the garage.

We didn't finish the DS carpet install yet because we are waiting on a new P-brake cable to arrive. It goes under the carpet and exits through a hole in the new floor section. It was rusted so bad that I had to cut it to get everything disassembled.

Next up will be the exhaust and completely new weatherstripping. The old weatherstripping is literally rotting off the car and it leaks like crazy. It's rainy season here, so if the car has to sit outside I will have to tarp it to keep the water out until we can get it all sealed up.

I buy smart when I look for a car. I have been "playing cars since 1978. And a lot of things weren't available back then. And when I couldnt find an 4 speed car that wasn`t thrashed .I found an automatic car and converted it over .With a combination of factory ( the clutch linkage .used a Muncie M-21,Stock bellhousing, flywheel at the time. And aftermarket parts .I have rebuilt cars of multiple brands over the years .with my friends ..And the multiple modification I have modifications I made to my own ,With some hand made parts .I just go about the way I do Like other people on this site do as well.I was just trying to save you some money and work from mine and others experience over the years.

I understand...

I was advised that the automatic transmission is the best.
So I brought a Camaro with TH350.
I have a car for 15 years, but I never got used to the automatic transimission.

I am determined to change this to manual.
But here it is financially completely off.
I'm counting on the purchase, shipping and tax probably so 5000-6000 dolars.

Otherwise back to the topic...
Greeting for Zlathim

We've been mostly gathering parts and cleaning stuff up for the last couple of days. We got the parking brake cable installed Monday and last night we got the headers mocked up, enough to figure out the rest of the exhaust and get mufflers and pipes ordered.

I think we are going to work on installing the complete weatherstripping kit tonight after work/school. It will be nice not to have to tarp the car when we park it outside. I'll get some more pics posted soon.

I have a new battery, starter and cables ready to install also. I'll be working on the '76 until Thursday, then park it outside and bring the 5th gen in to get it ready to race on Saturday.

So much work to do and so little time.

Well, that was fun. Test fitting the headers and we realized there is a problem with the clutch linkage. This engine is so greasy, it took me a while to figure out what was going on. It turned out that the pivot ball stud on the bell crank had sheared off in the block. We had to remove the inner fender to get at it.

I ended up welding a small bolt to the end of the broken stud to get it out.

That engine had a good 1/2" of grease sludge caked on it. We've scraped a good amount of it off, but I need to degrease it with chemicals and water. I'm in a rental, so I don't want to get caught hosing the grease off in the driveway and I haven't had a chance to get the car to the car wash to spray off all the gunk. It's rather maddening at times.

Anyway, we got it out and only wasted one evening on this part of the project.

The good news is that the cheap Summit headers that I bought fit great.

Think about changing the carburetor.
I've never achieved such good results with Edelbrock as with Holley.
Otherwise, good job
