It sucks but it is what it is. I knew what I was getting into when I decided to take it to the track and build it for the track/street. I'm going to find weak parts and will have to replace them. I tried going about it proactively but I took a gamble on the trans. The only thing I'm really dissapointed in is that it's going to take 8 weeks to get the trans back, but when I do it, it will be built for the enventual S/C and be able to hold the torque. The trans rebuild was already planned, this just moves up the timetable by well a lot...lol.

Bone don't worry i'm sure your car is fine...just don't put on Drag radials and do a (freaking awesome, if I must say) burnout when the track is already pretty damn sticky and then launch it like you stole it. The car was not built for that...unless you go with the COPO.

Kevin, I must say you have a great attitude and understanding about what you are doing with the car. I totally agree with you, if you are going to build the car for the strip/street then you need to address the parts that are not designed or engineered at the factory to take the added stress that the drag racing puts on the car. The bottom line is, you can't add all kinds of horsepower to a stock drive train and expect the parts to last.

My wife is the one with the great attitude and understanding. When I told her I could put it back to stock for 1g or build it the right way for 3g but it would take 8 weeks, all she said was "going to suck not having the car for 8 weeks". She is awesome

KMSRS2SS, is that $3K and 8 weeks normal lead time or is your shop really jammed right now?

I have to do this too, targeting 600rwhp, hoping my trans will last through the clutch break-in period this summer.

The shop is jammed, it's that time of the season I guess. The price I mention would be all the costs I would have wrapped into it. Just the rebuild is around 2000, so if you can remove it and put it back in then you would save a bunch. I think the break was due more to the torque than HP, but I plan to be around 550 torque at the wheel after the S/C.

That wait time is not excessive for this time of year BackinBlack. I had mine done there in mid January and it took almost 5 weeks at that time, but in mid January around here thats not anything to worry about. In Kevin's case it will seem like 12 weeks I'm sure, and Kevin you have an awesome wife, mine is the same way she has been very supportive thru all the "car" things I do

Amen to that. You should have seen him at the track. He took it WAY better than I would have. He even took some video of a couple of us making passes while he was waiting for a tow.

Yeah Pete, a bunch of us went out to Lapeer yesterday and one of the guys wasted his new RICHMOND gears that Livernois sold him and installed. Man he took it real well to. I'm a bit more like I think you are, I would not have been pleasant to be around at all if either of these things would have happened to me.

Ouch! I'd like to say that I would have been as good a sport as Kevin was, but in reality, I probably would have been too depressed to get out of the car...
