That's a middle of the road cam when paired with heads. Depending on the price of the package, i'd imagine you could get a better deal, better parts, and more HP from a good shop. Just because they are a dealership doesn't mean they know what's best for your car, unless you have a great dealership like we have here in Arkansas, GPI.

Can you link us the setup you're considering?

thanks for responding.

the kit that i'm talking about ,i found in the 2014gm/chevy performance parts catalog.

they call it ;ls3 power upgrade kit. #19301990

comes with fully assemble cnc ls7 heads &ls7 cam with all the hardware included.

the part saying that the job could be done at the dealer is,it's fully covered under warrenty by gm. it doesn't void anything since the work is done over there.

my mistake about 70hp .it's more like 40hp they advertise. to help it some more headers would be a good improvement too.

figuring more hp at the crank. i know it's hard to measure, since the ls3 is at 426 or 430 like in the vette.[c6]. i would of like for it to have 460+.

it will be a DD also. as i live in Montreal, canada. good speedshops or tuners are hard to find.. the other part i would love to do it myself.,but don't have the puller for the crank ..anyway everything can be bought... more rewarding too,if i do it myself..

If your wanting to do the work yourself I'd suggest getting a different setup. One that will get you more power. As for the crank pulley puller you can rent one at an autozone or something like that.

Hey guys...I looking for the thread that explained why the rear suspension on the Camaro needs to be upgraded due to the wheel hop. Where is it? Thanks.

cai, intake, heads, cam and headers would get me some hp/tq. while keeping the engine in the safe zone. not shorting up his living days... no meth or nitrous or any thing like that. just raw power from start up to 6000.

and what would you suggest? would like to know please.
Thanks

It comes down to how much raw power you want. A good H/C package on a LS3 will net you more than 500whp. It will surge at low rpm, decreasing the driveablity a little. If you want something that drives like stock, until you get on it, something along the lines of GPI's SS2 LS3 cam would be good.

hi there! ok. just a weekend car and for looks.. mostly. I have a cai (with washer bottle and scoop) and atak axle back exhaust. nothing else.

here is my question. i saving for a sc but was looking way down the line. (like years). keeping the warranty valid for at least 4 years.
I switched from a 6 to a 8 for the rumble. looking at getting the no weeds diverter (about 1k) and was curious if that is the best bang for it? the car is quick and there will always be someone else with a faster car. i think it looks good but it could use that super v8 rumble.

cons/pros to the exhaust diverter or..

thanks in advance. the car is 1yr 5 mts old and only 5k miles so .. no tracking or racing.. just driving!!

/beans

What exactly are you after? Performance, sound, what? Diverters won't add to performance, just sound. Seeing that you don't want to do anything that could possibly void your warranty, your power options are very limited.

i plan on keeping this car. its my other baby.

(EDIT) unless like new piping would bring out the growl? is 1k not enought to do it from the headers out? probbaly not.. hmm

Figured I'd give a quick update on my cam upgrade. Ryan set me up with the phaser and timing tables, shortly after loading them threw a cel. P219B, Searched everywhere and couldn't come up with anything, developed a slight tick so pulled the valve covers and found 2 trunions #4 cyl both on the way out. Replaced the rockers while I await the trunion upgrade kit and it's been ok.

Still have some minor issues with surging and bucking a bit in the lower rpm range and slightly low vacuum but some of it may be remedied once I get the 3600 triple disc back in, hopefully this week.

Now, the important stuff, this cam pulls amazingly hard, it has tons of torque and very good throttle response and pulls hard right out of the hole and on up. If you can purchase stock in my local tire distributor, buy it, their sales are going up!!

Nice! I had a little issue with one of my rockers on the #6 cylinder. I spent a week drilling a grade 10.9 bolt out of the head and putting a helicoil in. Smooth sailing from there though! Low vacuum and bucking might be fixed by giving yourself a little more timing in that area. I wasn't able to get rid of ALL of the bucking, but most of it is gone.

If you're looking for that V8 rumble, IMO diverters aren't it. If you're looking for a car that sounds like a NASCAR, you may be on to something though. There are several good catbacks or axlebacks that will give you that deep rumble. There's a good selection of exhaust clips in a sticky at the top of this section. Click on a few of them to see if you find anything you like. You won't get too loud till you get rid of the 4 stock cats though. They quiet the exhaust note down A LOT. Also remember that anything that you get now will be amplified considerably when you get LT's.

I'm thinking the low vacuum may be a pre-load issue. Once I do the trunion upgrade I can re -check and adjust pushrod length as needed.
