First oil change when they install the wickerbill I will complain about the seat.

On a lighter note:

Just so I'm perfectly clear..... My car with a manual transmission has hill start assist (a pointless system I didn't even knew existed). because it is apparently ok to be unable to properly drive stick...but I apparently I do need training on the procedure to properly fasten my seat belt in order to not damage my rather expensive automobile's poorly designed seat.

Does that sound about right

GM replaced the entire back/top section of my seat. Even if you have a little bit of wear I would complain so that it actually becomes a bulletin. Between the two model years there will be less than 100 z/28cars north of the border so you Americans better mention it on your first oil change..

I am pretty sure the wear was from pulling the seat belt across instead of out then across. Either way I think it,s a Recaro design thing.I would be interested if GM sends them the bill.

They put these Recaros in SS models too. There are a bunch of them. They all have the same issue. It's really a shame.

I gave my seats a good look over today. Luckily no wear, I'll be keeping an eye on them.

Heard from my dealer today that GM wants to replace both the driver's seat leather as well as the passenger seat so they match. Dealer service rep was told by their GM rep that this would be a one time "customer relation" fix and that I should use a seat belt cover once the new leather is in. The new pieces are coming directly from Recaro. Sure seems to me that they know they have a design/wear related issue on these Recaro seats. If you have this issue I would jump on it now.

Does anyone if they replace the entire seat back assembly or do they recover the existing seat?

My dealer said they are ordering a new seat cover for me and considering the fact that they are a bunch of hacks I can't imaging that's going to end well.

Same people who told me the Wickerbill they order for me "won't fit on a Z/28"

Maybe recovering the seat looks more complicated than it really is. I've done it on a few classic rides an it's usually a total bitch to get looking right.

My car has 4500 miles and my seat is still perfect. Still not sure how this is happening to other people but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it doesn't happen to me.

Recaro has a history of making mistakes like this. I had problems in my VW R32 (as did everyone) with the bolsters blowing apart at the seams, the Recaros in my Mercedes did the same thing too... EVERY car I've had with Recaros had a design/quality issue.
If they replace the seat back or cover, it's unlikely they will be able to give you the old one. They may have to return it, but if the warranty center doesn't ask for it back for a month- they can "discard" it.

Believe it or not I think it happens in one bad pull out (dirty minds take it easy)

Basically if you pull out the seat belt quickly and it is in the wrong position...your done.

I noticed it on my car after a few hundred miles since then it hasn't changed at all. If I knew about it ahead of time it wouldn't have been a problem. If your careful or your just aware of it you'll never have a problem.

I bought some Recaro labeled seat belt covers just to be sure it won't happen again.

They do the seat cover and do both seats so they will match. The dealer is also required to return the old covers to Recaro. My dealer did a good job and they look new. Won't stop the same problem from occurring again, especially if you are a tall guy. Will definitely need seat belt covers.

Lets keep in mind you paid $75k for an overpriced Chevy. Its very difficult to compare to all other $75k cars because the Z/28 quality is going to be significantly lower.

Example, for $75k you can have a Lexus RC-F. Interior to Interior, you couldn't even argue the Z/28 is allowed to be in the same room.

That said, Recaro is Recaro. Chevrolet sourced Recaro, and as a Z/28 owner I have an quality expectation preceded by the reputation of Recaro.
