URGENT QUESTION on stagnant oil

We are on our way to pick up a 2015 Z28. It is brand-new off the lot and only has about 30 miles on the odometer. What are y'all's opinions on the condition of the oil being it's probably sat in the car for about a year if not more? Should we have to worry about any of the additives being broken down or not?

I would be more worried about the filters sitting in the liquid for that lenght of time. Request a pre delivery service.

If it were mine, I would take it home and change it myself to see what it looks like. Thirty miles a quarter mile at a time is still 30 miles.

You have nothing to worry about with the oil or filter. I would change the oil/ filter and enjoy your ride.

If the car sat for that long you may need new tires. IMO

Tell the dealer to change it. You get 4 (I think) free oil changes. First two years or something like that.

Synthetic oil will not deteriorate unless you're driving it and then after 3000 to more like 7500 mile, make sure the oil is light amber on the dipstick. If it shows good, I'd change at 1500 miles after break-in.
I'm an industrial chemist - the oil additives ARE NOT going to breakdown at ambient temperatures on a dealer floor. Have fun with the car, follow the break-in instructions. If you're like me you'll be chafing by the time you get to 1250 miles with the break-in max shift limit of 4000rpm...

As mentioned, request a service. It's no big deal for them to change the oil. Check the tires for cracks around the outside of the tread. These tires WILL crack if the car was moved when it was too cold outside.

Agree w everything above.
Mine was sitting 2 years as well and I had the same question.
I just mentioned to my salesperson that I wanted the oil/filter changed before I drove her home... didn't even balk, he said absolutely, at no charge.

Doesn't hurt to ask.

Thanks for all your inputs. Oil was still amber/little dark so drove it home with mixed driving hoping to set the rings. Ended up changing it at 333 miles, took delivery with only 28 miles on the clock! Sending an oil sample to Blackstone labs to know for sure.

I'm in the oil business...part of my career was lube oil for transportation (cars, industrial, marine, etc). You would have been fine to leave it in, but I would have done the same as the OP since I am anal about such things.

If you value your car then do your own service as much as you can....

Any time you let a dealer touch your Z/28 your asking for trouble IMHO.
