Yeah, it is...the LS7 lasted a total of about 5 months in the Holden commodore HSV427. Which has now been changed to...you guessed it. LS3. Car got pretty good reviews, I think it's pretty close to what our camaro will run like.

I'm still trying to figure out why this car with the LS3 costs 80 grand though...

With gas +- 30% over a two month period...it's no wonder it's hard for GM to make these types of decisions....although, i think these special niche vehicles are not intended to bring in huge margins...or am i wrong?

Ok...do you people know how much an LS9 motor costs alone...I'm guessing around 22-24 G's. Seeing as the lS7 is 17 G's on gmperformanceparts.com. Why would it be a supercharged LS9(too expensive!!!)??? Why not just keep the cheaper LS3??? Seriously...LS9+ supersharger= about 29-30 G's buy them selves trans and exhaust= plus the rest of the Camaro about 16 G's. Z/28 name= 4 G's. If they do all of this the car is gonna cost no less than 60+ thousand dollars!!! Horribly INSANE!!! Why not just keep the LS3 motor and buy a procharger/Kenne Belle/Vortech intercooled supercharger pusing 10+ psi on your modified LS3 SS(now self proclaimed Z/28) motor, get some Z/28 trim/badges sterring wheel etc., new headers/mufflers, get it professionally tuned/dyno'ed, and in the end you'll definitely be pushing no less 600+ Hp and Tq in that brand new EXCLUSIVE TO YOU CHEVROLET CAMARO Z/28!!! I'm pretty sure GM won't be doing this project. It's gonna cost them more and us, and they're just gonna sit in lots. The best way for them to go about it would be to make a seperate package just like shelby does for the GT-500 KR(which you'll definitely eat for lunch!) package. It all depends on the sales of the SS first of all. If they don't go the way GM wants it to there may be no green light for a supercharged LS3/LS9 Z/28 at all people. Sorry but the truth. Lets stop dreaming and think optimistically about this ok.

not to harp on you or anything, but the LS9 engine is a supercharged engine... there's no need to add money to the cost of it for a supercharger, since it comes with one already... and the price of the LS7 and LS9 that are on the GMperformanceparts websites are WAAAAAY high and they make a ton on those motors when sold in the aftermarket... so your math, however rational it is, is flawed.

that said, there will be no Z28 at launch... and I think we all realize that... and I'm fairly certain that if the Z28 nameplate does come back (and God, I hope it does!), we will see it lighter with a normally aspirated V8... maybe a gen5 V8? who knows.

Oh you're not harping on me man, just feedin me info I didn't know about right... LoL! Also if they bring back the Z/28 I will definitely get one of those too! Then I'll have a 2010 SS and a 20?? Z/28!!! Would definitely be nice right??? But I just kinda don't see it happening since I've learned a little about CAFE recently.

All I want is a lighter version of the SS, so obviously it would do better on fuel econ. Kinda sad to see the government F us all over like this. Anyone want to start a third party with me?

Well since it seems nothin is going right about a Z/28 coming out anytime soon...I plan to modify my SS to a custom Z/28 :-)!!! I will be getting a procharger supercharger when PC releases it! Get some new pistons, heads, valves/springs, block bored, lifters, rods, headers, pipes and mufflers, a new suspension, then I'll take it to Livernois Motorsports and have it proffessionally tuned maybe dyno'ed and whatever else I can do for more HP/tq numbers. IDK everything about performance yet so I won't be doing everything myself. Just some things. I'm gonna get some hideway lights maybe or an aftermarket grill/front fascia and all Z/28 trim/badges. If anyone knows some things I can do to make my car lighter inform me please!!!(I love the people on this site you all are so helpful!) I don't care about keeping the car orginal. I just want the car to be more powerful/agressive/nasty and more light than factory and look a little better. I wanna have my own self made Z/28 till they actually bring it out if they decide to do it.

History says, if a market exists, companies generally find some creative way to fulfill that market. For example;
http://www.mopar.com/performance/package/index.html
Granted, you have to meet a few guidelines;
http://www.mopar.com/pdf/ordering_guidelines.pdf
Maybe I'm being naive, but if Chrysler can market a politically incorrect car that shoves cafe rules where the sun don't shine, I would think Chevy could market a Z28 performance package...that just happens to go fast around corners too.

You wanna make the car lighter...Remove all the heavy stuff...Remove the stereo, speakers, speaker box and amp, rear seats, headlights (replace with stickers), rear lights, airbags, spare tire,spare tire cover, all the carpet, door intrusion beams. Replace the hood with the lightest Glass or Fiberglass pin-on's and replace rims with ones that are 11.9 lbs. each at the most. Remove the jack, jack holder, tools, rear seat belts, center console door and glove compartment door and latches, all the heat-shields and take out the sound deadening material from the floor-pan by using dry ice and a chisel and hammer. Don't forget to remove the on-star fin. If you really want to go race-car, remove the glass windows and replace with nets. Also, remove the air-conditioning unit at that point as well. On a final note, you could join Jenny Craig and lose some weight on the elliptical for that extra 20lbs . Enjoy your new car and make sure not to order the RS package and save some money since you'll have more to remove at that point .

If a Z06 and Cts-v can be built, so can a camaro ZL1. Charge $60k for it and limit the production run. Dealers mark them up to $100k at first. I don't care. Some one has the money to buy it and I'll get a used one as soon as I can. It's better to do that than NOT build the car in the firstplace.
