I put this strut brace on last weekend and it does not rub on my hood liner. Better yet, the aluminum polishes out to a beautiful shine very easily in about 1 hour.

I should note the GM brace will not just bolt in to a 2010 or 2011.

Early 11's… And no, I don't know the cutoff date. You either have holes or you don't...

Thank guys. As it turns out a friend has this with mounting brackets that he will sell me for $140. Just need to see if I can paint it.

Hello everyone,

Having read through all the posts, one thing is still not clear to me: Would an original GM strut brace (part no. 23120485) fit a 2011 SS without drilling holes in the car? I had a look at the part (only on a picture sadly), and had a look under the bonnet, and I could not really see how the strut brace could be mounted without drilling holes in the car. Is it a necessity to drill the holes in order to fit it?

Thanks for any help!

Can someone help me in pointing me in the right direction to polishing the GM strut?

I just installed it but I'd like to clean it up a bit.

Thx for the help.

'10's & early 11's don't have the holes. If you don't see 3 threaded, unused holes on each tower, you need to make them. You'll also need adapters/spacers as you also won't have the reliefs in the towers for the brace.
