Definitely better than me last night...I started with a gutter ball.
I thought I had a clone of last week's set going there, but my carry fell off and I whiffed a 7-pin and a 10-pin in game three. 199-228-181. I did however make the 2-10 split, coincidentally. The highlight of the night had to be our team's comeback in game three. We were down 85 pins going into the 10th, yet won by 3.

Shot 624. (215, 191, 218) Lanes were real slick, which is my down fall. Hopefully will shoot 700 next week....again, hopefully. Its been awhile. Lost all but the last game. I love when we give these teams 200+ pins, then they all bowl their asses off. Our team owns the sheet on all scratch scores. Unfortunately, scratch scores dont pay out. At least dad buys lunch this week.

Yep, that happens. I always joke that if the 100-avg bowler on the opposing team throws a double, we lose.

My turn to try and break the 700-drought tonight. Maybe I need to have an extra beer at happy hour...

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! A 700 within my grasp - needed two strikes + 9pins in the 10th of game three, but shot a 9-miss instead. Whiffed a 7-pin and two 10-pins for my only three opens for the night. Man, that shit needs to stop! 221-212-235. I'm happy with the scores, but disappointed that I keep tossing away pins by missing easy spares. At least we have climbed into first place and I did leave the house with more money than I entered, but this single-pin miss thing is driving me nuts...

Man, so close!!! I think I may have fixed my 10pin problem. I dont know how you shoot at them, but all my spares, I throw straight and hard. When I was going for 10 pins, I would always miss it wide, falling into the gutter inches before the pin. I would always stand on 25, and throw over 15. I thought to myself, if I take some of the angle out of the shot, I may not miss it wide. So I scooted over to 20, and tried throwing over 10. I got all of them this week!! Now 7 pins, I dont have advise for that. I suck at those.

I go straight and hard - no side turn at all, firm wrist, fingers spread, same ball. I set-up with my left toe on between 35 and 40 and I target the arrow on 20. I dropped my shoulder and let my wrist fade a little (I guess) and missed wide almost exactly as you described except it was in the channel probably 2 or 3 ft in front. I probably let the guy I was up against in the pot game get to me a little as he came over to see if I was going to catch him. The game was a little tight as well, so all-in-all, one could say I choked. I did tie the pot game score (I thought I needed to at least mark at the time), and we did win the game, so it's no biggie really. More often than not I yank the ball inside the 10 when I do miss it.

I tried your strategy of angle reduction for a while when going after 7-pins (and left-side spares in general). I seemed to work for a time, but I eventually returned to going across the lane. I actually hook the ball over there at normal speed with a down-and-in or up-and-in path, depending on the center and left-side lane conditions. I make it a point to throw a couple of 7-pin shots during warm-up. I miss equally right and left, and still struggle with it because rolling from the right side of the of the lane just doesn't seem to fit my eye. Maybe if I would actually practice once and a while...

Any " League Bowlers " Out there ?

For the first time in three weeks I actually bowled well. Was a pleasant surprise lol.
200-234-246-229=909 series. Average right above 227 with my average being at 177 right now. -.-

Nice series! My best 4-gamer was 899. Started it with a 181...so it was all up from there.

Nice series ! Never did a 4 game set so I have no idea what mine would be..
We were canceled because of snow here both Tuesday and Thursday night's so no scores for me.

As for the 10 .. I'm straight and hard as well . No spare ball -same as my strike ball.. I just flatten my wrist out and come straight up n out . Stand on last two dots on the approach and roll accross the 15-16 board ..

Should be back bowling next week ..Thursday night we're on lanes 1&2 up against the wall ..

Man I forgot about this thread. When I came to college I decided to not bowl league down here and focus on school...but with it being my last year and a friend needing another bowler to fill a spot for the last half of the season I started 3 weeks ago.
First week shot 603 only having 2 balls.
Went home that weekend and brought back the arsenal.
Week 2- 725
Week 3- 668

Sitting at a 221 average right now...looking to keep that.

Shot 660 today. (241, 213, 206) Thought I was going to have an easy 7xx today. Started practice perfect with 7 in a row, had front 6 of first game, then had a pocket 7-10 with the best damn ball I threw all night. Then the other 2 games, I lost my carry.. UGH.

Sorry that didnt work man. Its still working great for me. Only missed one ten pin but that was totally my fault. I didnt set up right and rushed the shot. Even got a 7 pin today too!

I hate 1&2. Maybe not so much now, but when I used to go full cross lane to pick up 10 pins, I kicked the wall once and it jacked up my back for awhile. After that, I learned to plant the back foot. Lol

What I meant to say was that I had tried it for several seasons - shooting left-side spares from the left side of the lane - and eventually realized that my conversion percentage wasn't any better than when I went cross-lane at it. I believe my issue with the 7-pin (and 4-pin) is really all in my head. Just like many right-handers who stress-out over the 10-pin, I make the left-corner spares out to be tougher than they really are. Again - I probably need to practice, but at $3.95/line I have little interest in bowling on non-league nights.

Cool. I did leagues until college and now just bowl for fun. Last year around this time my parent and friends started a "league" just bowling at the same time every Sunday. We did it for 11 weeks in a row and I kept a spreadsheet.

I averaged 190.3 with a high game of 247 and a high series of 632

I use a Columbia and a Fuze.

Got a SWEET pair of bowling shoes not long ago with glowing skulls on them hahahaha. I looked for the most obnoxious pair I could find on amazon. I'll have to find a pic.
