Just for comparison, check how well Doc's paint matches up. It really is the automotive equivalent of the Angels.

Here are a few shots from the AutoClub Speedway event last Saturday, courtesy of CaliPhotography.com.
Here's me on the starting grid: Going around a few corners: Here's me on the main straight crossing the start/finish line: One more on the course: Pulling off the track into the pit area: Fun day; had a blast. Looking forward to the next one there.

Can't wait to see a pic with the SLP splitter!

Well that will be in a few hours. I have the splitter on; just have the front of the car off while I'm putting on a tow-hook. Stupid battery on my drill ran down while I was trying to drill the holes in the front bar. I've got the battery on the charger so maybe in about 3 hours I'll have a pic or two with the front of the car back on and the splitter.
Next week I'll take the ZL1 sideskirts someplace to get them painted and maybe by next Friday those will be on too with any luck.

Well it took longer than anticipated. Trying to get the tow-hook to line up so it stuck out the lower grill correctly was a time-consuming pain. For those who want to do this in the future, drill 13 and 5/8 inches from the right edge of the steel crash bumper and leave about 1/4" gap from the bottom of the crash bumper to the tow-hook. And I recommend removing the crash bumper to drill the holes so the front and back holes line up properly.
At any rate, here are a couple of quick pics I took this morning (ignore the dirt and bugs, the car needs washing) and you can see the red tow-hook sticking out from the lower grill. You can also see the SLP front splitter which was easy to install and fit exactly as advertised. It installs with 10 bolts (no double-stick tape here) so there's no chance it's going to come off at high speed if you run on the track. This should give me a little more downforce in the front when going around the high-speed bank at the speedway. Next is getting the ZL1 sideskirts out of the living room and to the paint shop.

Curious Doc,
Do you remove the passenger seat when running the track (2 bolts)? ... maybe even the rear seat too? Still have the windshield washer bottle? Carpet? Console? OnStar? XM? There is so many places to lose weight... And really, your build is so epic that I don't want it to stop ...... I bet 3600 lb is achievable.

would not recommend removing the seat, that will set an airbag code that will need to be cleared by a dealer.

Even if not, 50lb is 50lb. You might be able to live with the airbag light for a track pass. ... does the driver bag work if the light is on? (probably not).

That's good to know Padre. There MUST be a bypass or work-around of some kind to allow a racing seat and still keep everything functioning.
