How can I get rid of water spots? - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

Alright, just the other day I had washed my car. It was a little warm so I am sure the water was being dried up from the sun causing these water spots. However, I was using some paste wax on the car since I just pulled it out of storage. I was hoping that adding paste wax by hand would get rid of these water spot, but I don't think it did. Do I need to use a clay bar? Is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening?

Try claybar first. If there are still spots you might need a PC to get them out. To prevent them you can try pool rinsing or try washing the car when its cooler or either in the morning or evening.

the porter cable is expensive 250$. Anything else like this that is cheap?

You can get a PC 7424 for $122 shipped on ebay. Don't know where you got $250 at.

Most people who care about there cars appearance use a leaf blower or master blaster to dry it faster so no facepalm needed.

Dont wash in direct sun, use shade.

Wait a couple more washes. They'll disappear. Just make sure your next wash is either in the shade or during the early evening.

1. Good bath followed with claying.
2. Rewash, dry and apply a quality wax/polish
3. NEVER allow car to "airdry" or wash in the sun -always feel the tempature of the paint before washing...if its hot, wait until its cool to the touch.

IT IS VALID........a LOT of us do this.....and it works GREAT! not to mention, a goid leaf blower is pretty cheap and has multiple purposes!

when drying your car off....the LESS you touch the finish, the better off you are.....and by using AIR, NOTHING touchs your car.

the other suggestions above too are good ones:

Clay it and start with a fresh wax job.

Use Detail spray on the car as your dry it.

wash your car either in the mornings, or later in the afternoon when the sun isn't beating down on it.

Find someplace to wash it where you have some shade. if nothing else, keep the whole car WET as as you finish one part of the car and on to the next. Once your done, pull it into the shade to give you more time to dry it.

IF you have a garage, wash your car and as soon as your done washing, pull it into the garage to start drying, OUT OF THE SUN. this is what I do and it works like a champ.
