Here we go with this stuff again. Who really cares what can be done with hundreds of thousands of dollars with R&D? Given an unlimited budget I can build a 4 cyl to decimate the V6.

V6 guys are still slower than the V8 guys and us V8 guys are still slower than the V12 guys. Deal with it, we do. Or just give it a rest and upgrade.

Well its been good back and forth so far. Gets a little of track but the original question. Can a 6th gen v6 hang.....and to make it clear..hang doesnt mean just around a track.....that does not interest me at all. The v6 guys on Camaro 6 meant drag racing.....and Im saying that a V8 5th gen will beat a v6 6th gen and it wont be close.....ok carry on.

Man I read this whole entire thread. I'm also on camaro6 bro nobody was saying that the V6 would run the 5th gen SS.

They were saying the 5th gen SS stock is half a second faster 0 to 60 which is true.

It was never a doubt the SS is faster.

You guys might need to watch out for the 7th gen I-4 or V-6 though if they do another jump like they did between this time

2015 Camaro SS as tested by Car and Driver:

C/D TEST RESULTS:
Zero to 60 mph: 4.5 sec
Zero to 100 mph: 10.3 sec
Zero to 150 mph: 30.2 sec
Rolling start, 5-60 mph: 5.1 sec
Top gear, 30-50 mph: 11.0 sec
Top gear, 50-70 mph: 10.8 sec
Standing ¼-mile: 12.9 sec @ 111 mph
Top speed (governor limited): 156 mph
Braking, 70-0 mph: 145 ft
Roadholding, 300-ft-dia skidpad: 1.01 g

20016 RS as tested by Car and Driver

C/D TEST RESULTS:
Zero to 60 mph: 5.1 sec
Zero to 100 mph: 13.0 sec
Zero to 140 mph: 34.1 sec
Rolling start, 5-60 mph: 6.0 sec
Top gear, 30-50 mph: 15.1 sec
Top gear, 50-70 mph: 12.4 sec
Standing ¼-mile: 13.7 sec @ 103 mph
Top speed (governor limited): 151 mph
Braking, 70-0 mph: 152 ft
Roadholding, 300-ft-dia skidpad: 0.91 g

Not sure what else needs to be said in terms of this comparison.

I will say that my old 4th Gen Z/28 put down a best 13.5 at 107 with it's stock LS1. So this V6 engine isn't bad at all.

I'm not sure what all the bad mouthing is about, it is what it is and they do what they do.

There's no need to be a massive douchebag. In your mind you're the big man so I'm sure you are. But you'd be hard-pressed to find a better V6
Ummm, I hate to be a major buzz kill, but you're absolutely a moron if you think for even a split second that ANY engine with a single exhaust port is good......... You do know the reason why GM and other manufacturers are jumping on that bandwagon? Emissions and slightly lower weight. For a n/a application, it's truly the stupidest thing that you can do. What is this, the 1940s again? For a boosted application, I can see a little bit of a benefit as it allows the turbos to be almost right on the head. And you still can't port them except for extrude hone porting. Good luck with that! And yes, Ford did make a very good V6 with their 3.7L, unlike GM with the craptacular LLT. And as stated prior, pretty much any VQ V6 is better, the Toyota 3.5L has been better for many years, should I go on? Hell, even Hyundai made a better V6. You just go ahead and pat your on the back. You've got a V6, an expensive paperweight IMO when it comes to the grand scheme of things. I'll stick with my V8 tyvm and if I want to really go fast, I'll hop on my Ninja ZX6R. I've never seen a stock n/a V6 Camaro run a 13.1 @ 111. Lemme know when you find one.

After reading posts by Jer (and others) on this forum about the 3.6L, I’d be terrified to own one.

Others V6's that you think that the Camaro is better than

VQ35, and 37
2GR FE sound in the Lotus built by Toyota
As mentioned Above, the Hyundai Genesis V6 that makes over 300 hp
The Jaguar SE.. ( which is less than $40k) Has more horsepower out of it's V6
Do we need to remind buddy that Porsches have 6 cylinder Engines?

" Oh but those are have turbos, or superchargers or NA" Blah blah blah.. Fact is. They are six cylinder motors.

So to think your less than 300 rwhp 6 cylinder motor was built by the hands of God... The Grand National is still laughing at you 30 years later.
