Moving is definitely a PAIN!!! Janice and I have been in this house for 25 years. I don’t even think about moving any time soon.....

The house we are in is the only one we ever owned. Been here 44 yrs. Payed $17,900 for it $300 down. I was on vacation when the bank called and said we could come in and sign the papers. When we got back to are apartment I had a Telegraph saying I was laid off what a kick in the A$$. But we worked it out.
The house was a 3 bedroom with 3 kids. Dimensions 24x28. We made a pack that we would never take out a second morgage and never do improvements unless we could pay cash. The house only had a crawl space. so the first thing was raise the house and put a cellar in. Next a mud room with attached 1 1/2 car garage. Then 16x24 addition 2 bedrooms. last build Took living room bedroom wall out and made the living room 24x17. And last new siding, windows, roof, and front porch. I built the 12x12 shed, then the 14x24 1 car garage in the back yard.
Just put are updated furnace,AC, and quick recovery hot water. had the house repraised for $233,000. But no second mortage and all paid cash each time.
But I do have a lot of memories in this home with my family that we all built together.
No one can take that away from us.

Love it. Glad you guys were able to work it out. That was sort of our plan too. Paid 30K for this house 30 years ago. We built the oversized garage & concrete driveway a few years ago. Paid the house off a few years early when we settled my parents estate. The plan was to completely renovate the interior but once we got estimates, it was clear it was going to take 80-90K to get it done & that we would probably have to find alternate living accommodations while some of it was getting done. So just for peace of mind we looked assuming we would once again not find anything we liked, but this house is perfect for us & it is brand new. We could have paid cash for it but then we would have taken too big a hit from Uncle Sam. So we are taking a mortgage with a huge down payment, will fix up this house enough to sell, sell it, pay that toward principal & pay the remainder off in the next year. Not too shabby I think.

For that much money to remodel just to sell it. I like the way you decided to go about buying the new house. Hope every thing works out for you and your husband. Couple of beers with a Jack Daniels chaser.

Your turn for posting pics! Hope the IROC works out. Love those cars!

Saturday, my wife and I are flying to LAX. We bought her a new (to us) car from the manufacturer. It was a demo used for display and promo purposes and on stage at the LA Auto Show. To be honest, it's not something most (if any) of you would be interested in or probably like, but she loves quirky cars, and if she is happy, that is all that matters.

Anyway, we'll pick it up and drive it home, which is under 400 miles. We love road trips, so we'll have a blast. I'll shoot some cell phone pics along the way.

Have a great weekend everyone.
